i think you should think twice about getting a high mileage evo. 1. you wanna make sure it hasnt been thru 7 owners and 2. theres most likely going to give you problems with that many miles. i just hit 60000 and had to change all my fluids timing belt serpentine belt etc and cost me about 3000 to do. so just think twice. evos are money!

Thanks for the advice . I am kinda looking into bmw e30's (325is 90-91) right now but the no airbag thing is a little scary. Is this the wrong route again? lol

+1 on airbags, make sure the passenger has one as well. Few things would be worse than losing a friend due to not having one.

there are plenty of evo's in the sub 14k range. They will have higher mileage, but i would take a well maintained high mileage car over a drag raced garage queen any day.

3K is far too much for the 60K service.

why do you want an evo in particular?

This can only end well.

Do yourself a favor and get a more modest, reliable car. In all honesty, you cannot afford an Evo. Good luck.

I love the look of the car and the power it has and from what people say how fun it is to drive one (I will test drive it before I buy it). I know I am not supposed to get a powerhouse for my first car but its hard not to. XD

i was going to reply with getting an srt 4 if you want a fast car, but it seems like you know nothing about cars. save your life, buy a civic and DO NOT SWAP IT.

that evo in MD is not bad. looks good and mileage is decent. this car is great to have but it does cost a lot to maintain like everybody says. ur looking at about $600 for tires cuz you'll have to replace them all at the same time for the diff..Also synthetic oil every 3k, min 91 octane gas. and if u do decide to get it BE CAREFUL...don't drive like a mad man across town every chance you get. it is fast and fun but just do it when ur safe at the track or in a place where there arent too many ppl. Good Luck with ur car search. Let me know if u need anymore info

Will all due honesty i agree with the guys. I wouldnt suggest shooting up so high for your first vehicle. It took me 5 years of college, get settled and THEN buying the EVO. No lie they are amazing vehicles and like everyone has mentioned they are fun to drive. Pace your self. Shoot for something that will give you miles per gallon when you step on it not gallons per mile cheers.

Best two ideas in the thread.

You can get one for 8-10K and have money left over for maintenance and mods. Win Win

i mean dont get me wrong, a kid can learn responsability. when i got my juniors liscense my parents handed me the keys to the jeep srt 8 to use then a year later i got my evo. but i was driving since i was 12 and rode dirtbikes and quads so i learned to respect power. an rsx isnt a bad choice, but do you know how to drive stick?
