every one of these first car threads are a train wreck, unless youve been in some kind of auto racing since you were a kid you shouldnt be driving an evo, any parent that would buy their kid an evo for their first car would be an idiot.. you think your ready and oh ill learn to respect the car and your responcible but it doesnt matter who you are no kid at this age is responcible and doesnt respect a car, the only way you will respect a car like this is when it scares you, when it spins out cause your going too fast around a corner, when it breaks loose in the rain.. by that time your done, the car is totalled, you could be dead, hurt, whatever the scenario.

get an integra or something thats 5spd and slower, beat the **** out of it for a year or so and then when you think your ready get a faster car, you need to learn respect for the basics and then you work your way up to a faster car.. besides if you buy an evo for 14grand its going to have something wrong with it, trust me ive been down this road and have a 30 page build thread to attest that something will be wrong with it, then your gunna have to swap out parts and buy new stuff with money you dont have, insurance is going to be through the roof, your gunna have to run high test gas, regular maintence not counting stuff your going to have to fix just cause the guy before you beat it. and trust me they can say whatever they want, every evo gets beat on, why else would you buy an evo?

honest to god best advice to ever give you all bull **** aside and from personal expierence, buy a subaru 2.5rs, its awd, idk what part of dirty jerz you are but some parts get snow, its deffinately a fun car and plenty quick for a beginer driver, youll learn 5 spd, you can put low grade gas in it, practically no maintence ever besides oil and filter, insurance is dirt cheap cause its a 4dr sedan, all around perfect beginner car

hope this helps, and im not trying to discourage you from an evo, they are amazing cars and one day you should get one, but not now, just wait, i was 18 young and dumb when i bought mine for 13grand and now look at me im broke and in college have 27 grand sunk into a car with just barely enough money to pay for insurance and gas, and no my mom and dad pay for none of it, they hate cars

anyways best of luck to you

If you can afford it do it. Its only as fast as you press the pedal.

Or scope out an rsx type s. those are fun fwd cars for dirt cheap

Just do us a favor and don't raise our insurance rates.

no problem, good choice, theres always plenty of time down the road for one and who knows but that time somebody else might have something new and crazy out then stay with something affordable that way you have money to be a kid, whenever im not in school im working my butt off and dont have money for fun stuff like movies or road trips, get a cheaper car, build it some and have fun with life, dont live it by a car payment.

I agree with drew fl get a fiesta. Its brand new under warranty and it will be hard for you to kill yourself while learning how to drive. I started off with a 175 hp V6 GTi and it was the worst mistake I ever made, wish I would have went with something slower that was more manageable to contain. You said you are not experienced that well with a Manuel transmission, i would suggest getting some seat time like some of the other guys said get out of college at 22 - 23 and enjoy.
