Smile First Car

Hi,
I am going to buy my first car soon and I was looking into the Evo or WRX Sti. I am going more towards the Evo right now. Anyone got any ideas of best years? I want some performance and reliability.
Thanks
Adam

P.S. Do not give me the whole, get a civic speach

i don't know if you want it as your first car, but that's just my opinion. i think you need to provide a little bit more info like whether you're looking at the gsr/mr, financial issues, your age, etc. it's an expensive car to own especially with insurance, gas, and maintenance. if you're just starting to drive (meaning under 20) then insurance is gonna be crazy unless you get it under your parents name. don't get me wrong, i love the evo, but don't know how practical it'd be for a first car. good luck with your search and hope you get what you're looking for

I am 16 about to be 17, and getting it under my parents name for insurance. I don't know if I want it gsr/mr. My max spending limit is about 14k but id rather pay under that.

Fail. Your posting in an the Evo section. If you want to spend less then 14k scroll down the page to the lancer forums. Those are a little more in your price range

evo 8's under 14k are probably going to have fairly high mileage which is certainly a drawback in reliability terms

evo 9's and x's are simply out of your price range

with that budget, and your age, i dont think an evo is best for you, nor sti. A 14k budget is not much, even for and old evo 8/sti(02-03). Maybe a speed3 is more up your alley. wish you the best

another thing that I feel I should point out...maintenance costs on these cars are higher than your typical econobox

-93 octane fuel
-synthetic oil
-drivetrain fluids more often than a typical car
-tires (need to be changed together for diff purposes)

just things to consider

i really wouldn't suggest you making that trip for a car that is costly to maintain. idk your financial situation but if 14k is what you have, your not going to make it. buy a regular car, finish school and when your 21-22and your out of college, with a degree, buy whatever you want...no beer for you

P.S. SPEED3's arent bad
