I live in maryland and in the winter or summer I let my car warm up for 5 mins to warm up then wait 5 or so miles to beat on it. I've had the car since 29,000 miles and have 76,000. I also have a lot of mods.

I honestly think either one will be fine. Factory calls 5w30. Remember the bearings are clearance for the recommended oil from the factory.

I ran royal purple or Mobile 1 5w30 in my car for 3 year. Over 1.5 years was E85 over 540hp on stock motor and when we did my motor build the bearings looked brand new. I didn't baby my car either. I went through 3 trannys, so my motor was put to the test and the stock block is very strong and I should have kept it for a bit longer...

If you use royal purple I suggest changing it every 2k miles. It tends to get a bit gummy with you run it more than that. Or just use royal purple on track days then switch back after you are done racing.

I probably pushed my stock block harder than 90% of everyone here on evom besides STM.

I let it warm up for 30 sec and then go really easy for the next 5 - afr's are all over the map for the first 2 minutes or so when it's cold out

So, just curious, what is the harm if you don't properly warm it up and rev too high?

It really depends on how cold it is. The design of our engines dont make it a do or die thing because we don't have push-rods and higher clearances like some older engines. We also have higher oil pressures than most older cars. I usually let my Evo warm up at least 2-3 minutes in the winter. I drive easy for a decent amount to let the drive-train get up to temp. However on my Landrover I warm up for significantly longer. The engine has a much lower oil pressure and higher clearances. I usually wait until the oil pressure stabilizes before I go.
