Do you warm up your evo in the winter
^^ Ive heard this before and for that reason I don't worry too much about it.
I wont start it and drive like a bat out of hell. I'll let it run for a bit while I check my email or flip through some cds and drive off while staying out of boost until normal temps.
Car is annoying to drive when cold anyways.

I let mine warm up for a minute or two until the AFRs settle around 14.7 and then drive very conservatively (stay out of boost) until it's fully warmed up. In the winter, on really cold days, the car will idle very rich at first, sometimes dropping down as low as 10.5 and then it slowly/steadily works it's way back up to 14.7ish. This usually only takes a minute or two. I've tried just starting and going a few times and the motor doesn't seem like that as much. hard to explain, it just feels sluggish I guess. Also, I tend to get some low level counts of knock if I go to far into boost before she's warmed up so that's the reason I take it easy until she's warmed up all the way. I think you just have to try it out a couple of different ways and see what the car likes best.
Well here in South Dakota and I'm sure ppl in Canada can relate it gets to about -10 or colder and sometimes -30F with wind chill and i have a one car garage. So unless I'm taking my daughter to daycare the MR-T sits outside in that weather so the first thing i do is start up my car and hit the Seat warmers
then go get ready for work. SST shifts hard when its cold also.

Depending on how late I'm running, I'll wait 1-5 mins before taking off, and I take it nice and slow most mornings, later in the day I'll drive more aggressive. I've just heard from people who have driven turboed cars to let stay off the boost until the car is warmed up, and this being my first turbo... I'll take their advice and stay off the boost in the morning.
I always let it warm up till the needle on the temp guage reaches the bottom line. If not, the gas pedal is reluctant to move, almost like it doesn't want me to drive yet. Everything seems to cooperate at that point anyway, car feels awake.
I always let mine warm up for 5 min no matter how hot or cold it is. It's an OCD thing. Plus these cars feel like a slug when trying to drive it cold. I'll Leave the car in a lower gear for the first few miles to allow the trans oil to warm up.
Its not harmful its dangerous to ur motor lol every vehicle I know of has a bypass valve before the filter that when under operating temps allows oil to bypass the filter. Thick oil doesn flow through the filter as well which can starve the bearings. Once at operating temps it closes forcing the oil through the filter. Reving too high with it being cold means any oil contamination is not being filtered out for the first few minutes. The bypass valve also works if u happen to neglect changing ur oil filter once oil cannot flow properly through the filter due to contaminents it simply bypasses the filter to prevent oil starvation however once again contaminated oil is no good on bearings and such.
newer cars dont need to be warmed up past 30 sec just to get the oil moving..your car will actually warm up a lot quicker if u just shift below 3k.. this also saves your tranny because most will think their car is fully warmed up and they usually are, but the tranny is still pretty cold if u just let it sit in the driveway to warm the engine up..
not that it's right or wrong, but the manual says to warm up the car until the first bar on the temp gauge is displayed.
