Yeah I figured. Hey you should tell them next time that they may not have any parts for the Mitsubishi Evolution but I hear there are lots of interchangeable parts between that and the 03-06 mitsubishi lancer 2.0 turbo. I hear there are lots of american complanies making parts for that one and I hear its a real screamer. But then before you buy anything just walk out of there and just get it online. (Making fun of them, not you. They are often morons)

 

I think half of these are sarcastic and jealous comments by the wanna be an Evo owner crowd.(is it an sti, is it turbo, etc)

I actually get annoyed when people call my car a lancer. Lancer Evolution or Evo. Usually I correct them and explain what exactly is the difference.

 

I'm the same way. You can call it an Evo or a Lancer Evolution, but not just a Lancer... I said this to a group of guys on another forum and they laughed that I was all butt-hurt because my car is a Lancer

 

It's like calling a Shelby Mustang just a Mustang... same base yes but the number of differences far exceeds similarities (terrible comparison but you get my point). Therefore it should be a seperate car.

 

That's a great comparison, I bet most Mustang guys would hate to be called "just a Mustang." I think this goes for a lot of cars that have a "base" model with a high performance model offshoot of it. Its probably a little harder to draw the comparison to other cars (for example a base 911 to a GT2 or 3) but its pretty close to the same. It is technically the same car but enough has been done to it to warrant a difference. Otherwise it wouldn't be called something different.

 

I think the simplest comparison would be if u said an impreza wrx Sti was just an Impreza

 

Usually, if I'm talking to a car guy I'll tell them I drive an Evo, otherwise I just tell people I drive a Lancer.

 

but even those aren't as extreme, isn't the WRX boosted from the factory? I mean the difference from a 2006 Lancer to a 2006 Evo is very extreme...
