when looking at short blocks, say the 2.0 builds.... what makes one more or better than another.
i understand each performance shop has preference of what internals are used. but i did a build comparison with the MAP and AMS short blocks.. AMS / Je pistons w/ coating and manley I beam rods.. $5300 MAP / with same pistons w/o coating and all options available except manly crank comes to $4800. if they are the same products why would i spend $500 more? what makes one better than the other. Buschur engines cant chose options on internet, have to call.

Its not who build it between those guys, what is your goal and which internals are better fit for you. Which type of engine characteristic fits your needs in other words.
All are very proven. I'd personally go with MAP since they've built some great engines for friends of mine, but that's just my 2-cents.

who'es better for the money?...
i mean its not like these guys are manufactoring the parts in house and all have thier own parts.. for the most part they are all using the same parts.. so its really a matter of gettin the parts you want together, and seeing who would build it for the cheapest... than the other thing would be customer service, which i think is more important. who will be there to help you threw the process when you need them. to me thats what you are paying for as well when choosing a shop

I think what it comes down to is..
A. What do you want to do with your car?
B. Parts used in the build
C. Most important...WHO assembles the engine...assembly, clearances and all the little things will make or break a motor no matter what parts are in there.
Your going to spend some $$$ so call the shops and do research!
