Intake question from a newbie
I know that Cold Air Intake system takes in cold air for better power(?). I saw at rrm site the the injen intake system is on for 5-speed? Is there a reason? Can someone tell me how it exactly works, and if it works on a automatic transmission too?
Some of you guys must be laughing at my lack of knowledge, but I really didn't get in to cars until I got my lancer a month ago. so... please bear with me.

To make more power you need 3 things.
More Air, more fuel, more spark!
Cold air is more dense than hot air due to the Ideal Gas law. Just trust me on this one. There is more oxygen molecules floating around in the outside air than the blazing hot underhood air. Therefore the engine can add extra fuel to burn the extra oxygen. SPARK! BOOM !!! More power .

Proabably repeating things but keep in mind autotrans is much wider and it takes up virtually all the space between trans and radiator fan. CAI is really not an option for you. Even turbo car we did with automatic could not accomodate our piping for a CAI with the turbo. look at short intake for your automatic.

Cold air: relocates the filter outside the engine bay toward a spot that is less susceptible to sucking in hot engine air. In the Lancer's case, into the front left "brake duct".
As for autos, you've got pretty much all the options: RRM, RMR, Injen's new short ram, the Buschur short ram, and the soon to be available AEM short ram.
