parents are saying mitsubishi is bad[HELP]

I'm sorry but I HAVE to disagree with most all of what people said here about an evo being reliable. First off no performance car should be identified as reliable (to the general public), because they require extreme attention to maintenance. If you miss service marks then the reliability begins to deteriorate at a very fast pace. You might be a car person at 16, but your parents could give a rats *** if you do your oil change on or before 3,000 miles. To the average person a honda civic, toyota corolla, and cars of the like are reliable, why? because you can miss service intervals and not worry about those cars giving you a hint of troubles.
Evo's need to be serviced on or before their intervals. Even Mitsubishi will tell you that the service interval depends on your driving style. Walk into any Toyota dealership and they're not likely to tell you that it depends on how you drive the car. Simply put when you increase performance you increase wear and tear because everything is moving faster, with more force, and with materials that tend to be bulkier. The end result is also an increase in price to replace said parts and decreased availability.
From the sounds of it your parents are older and are not die-hard piston heads. Do yourself a favor and get something that is reliable and that you know can take a beating. Buying a bargain Evo is like buying a bargain prostitute it's likely to f*ck you, make you sick of her, and go looking for another one. Doesn't sound like your have the cheech to go through two Evo's, much less one.
I don't know how responsible of a driver you are but you can still have fun in a Corolla or Jetta. It might not be as fast as an Evo but at least you'll have money in your pocket to track them, take high school girls out, eat, etc. With an Evo you'll be the guy wanting to go out, but can't because you're spending your allowance on your "whip" that goes from home to school and nowhere else.

i paid 45,500 taxes in with extended bumper2bumper warranty? not to mention that was with the handling package mr brakes, wheels, and suspension. plus anyone who drives there evo and then gets into a base model civic to see loads of extra features will take my comment seriously. but like i said i bought the evo to have an evo if i wanted options i would have bought a bmw. the TS just wanted info on mitsubishi as a brand so i gave him some hard truths

my girlfriend has a 2008 civic si sedan and there quick there torque less so it feels like your not moving but when you get into vtec they like to go but i dont think they can walk an evo lol
I'm not basing my opinion on your ownership. I'm basing my opinion on what I've seen at summit, vir, and on the drives back home. My friend has a Civic Si and I've plenty of friends with X's and IX's. Stock for stock a Civic does not keep up in any gear, much less walk an X down.

Civic Si is a great car. I sold my built 2007 FA5[4 door] in August. In 3rd gear, it would easily walk an Evo X. They are lighter and get better fuel economy than the Evo does. Getting a 4 door over the 2 door will generally be cheaper on insurance, at least that is what the younger guys were saying on 8th Gen Civic. Also, the K20 is extremely responsive to mods. There is an enormous amount of aftermarket support out there whether turbos, superchargers, cams, intakes, headers, exhausts etc. This would also be a great car to drive until you can afford an Evo...

VW GTI or 2002 Subaru WRX are the best other choices I can think of, less problems with the Subaru most likely. The main problem is mileage, find one with low miles, search and take your time.
I'd take those two over a Civic Si in a second but thats personal preference.
low miles, low miles, get it.
and the teen noob joke isnt an lol, it was a failed attempt which ends up making the post nothing more then degrading an excited kid about to get a car, dont be a tool

oh well i also paid 200,000 more for my house then i would have in the US but thats just how the world works. your just mad because your "nice" car is a mitsubishi people who dont know what an evo is see it and just think what a loud lancer
lol and at the end of the day the civic was still failwheeldrive. cool story bro racing in straight line is BORING.

Umm, did you read my post? I said my built Si, not a stock Si. I never said a stock Si would be faster than an Evo. However, if you have a Full Race turbo kit on an Si, they are pretty fast. Go to Youtube and look for Full Race Si vs. Evo. I got the Evo because it is just a better platform all the way around. It handles much better, has better traction and is generally much more fun to drive. My Si was peaky because it has very rare IPS K2 cams in it with a Supertech valvetrain that revved to 9k so quick, it made my head spin.

I've seen Civics run against 600cc street bikes and hang close to them with my own two eyes, so I don't doubt that his Civic could walk a stock Evo. I've personally ran and beat Evos, Mustangs, Corvettes, and several other cars in a Civic.
