cobb ap ??? evoscan???
Hello evoM
I'm considering to buy cobb ap for my evo 8.5.
I know it is discontinued from cobb, but still it is really easy to change maps myself with a small amount of time.
I heard from others that evoscan is also a great program to do those kinds of jobs.
I will install JUNE 272 cams with BB FP RED this summer along with AMS tune.
I dont like to use complicated method to change maps.
What do you guys recommand?

I personally have a V7 in my stock ECU running 93/E85.
next would be a 100/E98 if I really wanted.
Sure you could always tune a 5 Map stand alone. But usually people dont use more than 2-3 types of fuel tops.
with a Tephramod rom, the rom comes with 2 sets of maps, and you use a switch wired to your ecu to flick between them whilst driving. just get a $1 switch from electronics store, and wire it to the steering wheel or something.
with EvoScan GPS navigator/datalogger, you load different roms onto the sdcard, and stop the car on the side of the road and flash it from the GPS unit on the dash, connected to the openport 1.3U cable.
with EvoScan you need a laptop or tablet PC running windows to flash the rom from hard drive.

I've always preferred the Accessport due to it's ease and interface. No hassle with a computer for the most part and is always a straight forward process no matter what the situation. I've had 3 Subaru's with Accessports and no complaints. Was considering one for the EVO also....but now I'm selling it.

Gpsnav, for EvoX it only works with op2. for Evo8 you can only use the 1.3D/R/U cables with the nav. but it can read/write reflash roms. and do all the datalogging.. you have to edit the data.xml file manually to add or remove dataitems with notepad, there is no user interface for that.
The gpsnav works perfect for evo8, see the youtube videos.. the only thing is that you have to update to the latest version on the sdcard from the evoscan website when it arrives as it comes only with an old update when it comes.
