Cheer up: I'm 48.

What makes you really feel old is when a stripper keeps trying to get you to go out on a date

... with her mother.

I feel better already, thanks Airborne!

BTW you're only as old as you feel, that's why I'm really 65.

Older EVO owners?

OK, Im starting to get a complex. I am a car guy to the bone. I have owned V8s, A WRX, an Audi S4, various heavily modified Volkswagens and so forth. I am planning to mod the crap out of this evo as well. However, I am starting to feel like I am old.

Most of the people on this forum and in the EVO world in general seem to be between the ages of 19-25. No, Im not saying its a bad thing to be young and have a nice car. But, I am 35 and I love this car as much as I would have 20 years ago. TO DATE, I have met 1 EVO owner older than me. This was a guy from New Mexico from the dyno this weekend Im guessing was in his 50's.

WTF????

Do older people not think the EVO is a great car or am I just too old for this car?

Cheer me up, Im feeling bad. If you are over 30 and own an Evolution, perk up.

I am 28 and think this car is great. I think we have a lot of people getting there 1st sports car and work 2 job just to have it, I know when I was 19 I bought a 1994 Rx-7 and it about killed me to have that car. Now I can REALLY enjoy the evo and have a house to park it at. I also had a NSX and most of them were 30-40ish but you know it's the same price as a evo used. I think we will see more people "Our" age down the road. Right now a lot of people have mommy and daddy getting them a evo. Or they are getting one so they can be a "pimp" Give it a year or so and they will be for sale because all the "pimps" will not be able to keep the cars. Or mommy and daddy will sell them because little Johnie is back to selling crack again.

I am 31 and I love my Evo. Of course I've wanted one since my mid-twenties...

The only bad thing is it carries a bit of an immature vibe in the US. My S2000 was a little more grown-up... Good thing, I'm not!

Older folks don't like the EVO because of the looks.....but they do respect it. I'm 30 myself and LOVE the car

WING

Yeah, Im getting a lot of crap at work about my wing in particular. I think its really great to have a carbon fibre wing hangin out in the rear view mirror, but I guess the over 30 crowd in general does not.

I'm 34 here.. I would buy 5 of them if I could.. I am certainly "Anti-Rice" if there is such a term.. However this car never struck me as such.. I loved watching these kinds of cars in the WRC races, and pikes peak stuff.. I think the US is just starting to see this kind of racing, so the "Look" of these cars is new to them.. And others are just stuck in their "Comfortable place" and just are unwilling to accept change.

No, you're not old. There's a saying that you're only old as much as you feel.
I'll be 28 in a month and I love this car. Married and we're expecting a kid but I still feel I needed this.
And this car makes me feel I'm 18 again
Enjoy!

I'm 28 -- hope that's close enough.

My take? Who the hell cares. If you enjoy your car, then it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. This is a driver's car that unfortunately fell victim to 'hype' here in the states. While that is not necessarily a bad thing, the younger crowd may tend to gravitate towards the image aspect of the car (i.e. Fast and Furious) as a result.

You may also want to take this generalization into consideration:

Us older, more mature folks tend to not run our mouths as much as the younger generation. There are probably plenty of 30's age people that do more reading than posting here. Maybe some of the older folks should speak up?

When I told the folks at work I'm planning to take the wing off, they said - don't do it!
Even my boss thought I should keep it and she's much older than me - best boss I ever had

I feel your pain. I am almost 35 and at times I do feel old compared to most in this scene. With that said I do enjoy the hell out of the car and I will be driving for six hours to be at the Vishnu Dyno day on January 31st in Maryland. Stage 1+ here I come.

Shiv

I spent most of this past Saturday hanging out at a Colorado dyno watching Shiv do his thing. It was well worth it.

I too have spent the last 10 years watching WRC and seeing cars like this one which were not available on US soil. That is until Subaru brought the WRX, and all hell broke loose.

BTW, I totally agree with the age thing. I buy cars to drive, not to be looked at. But, a lot of the time I feel like I am being stared at by anyone under 20 in this thing. In particular, my wife works at a large local high school. I pick her up from time to time and ALWAYS cause a traffic jam when I pull up.

On a lighter note, I do believe age is in the heart and this car is probably doing its share to keep me young. Now, on to the dragstrip!!!
