I would be looking to spend at least 2 grand on a set of reputable Coilovers, build your setup with some konis, or just don't bother with them.

The 1000$ setups are just a bit better than stock, so unless your stock dampers are blown then I would just get some lowering springs and call it a day. Then once the stock ones go out, get some konis, or MR blisteins.

Which Koni products are designed and available for our cars?

A quick google search lead me to https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...lstein-mr.html

Another thing, if 1g DSM guys are using MR Blisteins, 2g Konis fit the rear of the 1g with a little modification, you could get the readily available Yellows for dsms and build your own setup.

Note I did say, build your setup. Its not for someone that just wants buy off the shelf parts and go with it.

... okey-dokey

To answer my own question, no Koni products are designed and available for the (CT9A) Evolution. You could have just said that.

Hey bro, I heard you like to not read posts for some reason.

You should be able to get into a similar set for $1400-1700, i went one step further and had Eibach springs added. this set will match any setup at twice the price. may not be as prutty as NA Teins, CUSCO, etc, but they are race proven, DA (!), and rebuildable.
Truechoice is excellent, and their reputation is well deserved.
I never said you could just bolt-on some off the shelf konis and go with it, but anyone knows that koni is the best Damper you can get on a budget. Now I am sorry if your too over privileged to know how to fabricate, or get things fabricated. But that can sometimes be the best solution to a problem.

Here is another thread that discusses having konis fabbed.

...what?

You advised the OP to buy Konis for his Evo. I asked which Koni products were designed and available for the Evolution and you started spinning, instead of simply saying that you made a mistake. EvoM is a community. I know you're new and may not be used to a similar environment. Those of us who've been here for a while are concerned with the integrity of information, especially when it is being passed to new owners. Please keep that in mind. There's enough BS flying around without a need to add even more to the fold.

Sorry, how would you know what is best for the Evolution? Your familiarity with the platform rests on a tertiary level. Might not be a bad idea to hang back a bit, learn something, maybe buy an Evo of your own, and then offer guidance.

It's one guy talking to himself over the course of 4 posts 10 years ago (!).

AMR's are about $1850 and while not used as much on EvoM, I raced my set for a couple years before getting a set of AST 5100s. They are the only sub 2k shock I'd recommend and Ive tried a lot.

Even if Koni's were available for the Evo I wouldn't really recommend them for a DD car. Yellows ride harsh in every car Ive tried them in. They do work great for a budget race shock but like FJF said, no worth the effort on an Evo.

So your list of quality goes in this order.
MR Bilsteins w/ GTWorks springs (or swifts) - ~$1000
AMR with your choice of spring rates - $1850
AST 4100 ~ $2300
Bilsteins ~ $3000
AST 5100 ~ $3-4k
Then it just goes up from here with AST 5200s and Ohlin Flags topping 5k.

Not to try and hijack your thread, but I have my old AMRs with several options of spring rates just sitting in the garage Ive been meaning to sell.
