Is my 2 step set too high?
Personally I launch anywhere from 5,000 to 6,000 depending on what tire combo I am using (street tires/motorcycle slicks) and of course track prep.
As far as when to shift, if you have a dyno chart for your vehicle, you can optimize your shift points by looking at power/torque curves and when it falls off.

Where mine is set at 5200. It all depends on your power setup, tire hook up and what your running on. 5200 works well with my 360ft/lbs on ultra high summer tires on the street and rough drag strips/autox. 6400 I'd spin 1st and chirp 2nd which is what I don't want. As for shift, Boosted got it right on.

Like other said, all depends on your setup & power. What tires? What clutch? When I was stock turbo/long block my car seemed to launch the best with a 6k, 2 step. I have tons of 1.6X 60 fts on street tires. Since I upgraded to a larger stock frame turbo 6200-6300 seems to work well.
