Exclamation Scary moments in your Evo

My scary moment happened last december. I was coming home from an A7X and Asking alexandria concert around 2 in the morning. Only reason why I even decided to drive home that night was so i could get home and study for my finals for college. I was feeling fine not tired at all then all of sudden i passed out. WHICH i didnt think was even possible in an Evo. I hit the rumble strip and woke up. By the time I was completely aware of what was happening, a tire was already in the ditch. At 75 mph. I had a split second reaction to either over correct and pull it on the road and hopefully dont roll it, or just drive it and see what happens. I just drove it right in the ditch through the snow in the median and rode the otherside of the ditch then back through the median on to the road and went home. I was absolutely stunned. My friends were flipping out which i dont blame them haha... I wouldnt want to wake up mid ditch either. After all the adrenaline was done i started to just really appreciate my car more the ever. It handled so will in the ditch through the snow. I absolutley love my now and would never ever even think about getting rid of it. The evo will forever b a life saver to me.
As for damage of the car, it was just the front bumper. Nothing else, I actually probably would have been safe if it was just a little bit higher I probably wouldnt have to get a new bumper. It rolled under the wheel and cracked and broke. I still have it on my car, just put some bandaid stickers on it while i start the evo 8 bumper with a shaved nose piece, which i absolutely love the look!!

Now lets hear everyone elses scary evo story!!

Honestly to many in 7the years of ownership..but this one sticks out:

First winter with the car i was merging onto the parkway from a rest stop. It was raining but what i didnt realize was that it was freezing rain. I started to merge to early and was on the painted hashmarks portion that divides the merging lane from the highway. I Pretty much gunned it and when the boost kicked in the car spun all the way around into the middle of a 5 lane highway at about 70 mph. Car ended up spinning me into the correct the direction and on I went.

Also same winter hit black ice 20 feet before a blind intersection while braking..pulled the ebrake out of desperation and ended up spinning 90 degrees stopping couple inches from the intersecting road.

I know what you mean The evo just blows my mind on how it handles and sticks to the road, makes driving it so much easier. Glad to know you didnt wreck your car. Hitting black ice or just any ice for that matter is not good ... i had some hankook ipikes on my car... Best winter tires in my opinion and seem to last forever. I got a long ND (8 months) winter on them and they still look brand new

These were in a speed6 so not the same but I say close enough for now.

Steep downhill intersection was covered in ice and I wasnt aware until I hit the brakes. After the stop sign was a main road and I knew I wasn't going to stop so I floored it and slid sideways through the intersection and onto a snow bank left by the plow. No damage and no wreck.

This one was totally my fault and I was being stupid, I admit it.
I was on the interstate. Snow in the middle of the road and I passed a semi going downhill about 80. When I hit the snow in the middle we went straight into a fishtailing, sliding mess.
I had my brother in the car and for some reason I was yelling "We're fine! I got it! We're fine!" I got it staightened out and we had a silent conversation that went like this.
him: you are stupid
me: I know, I'm sorry

A couple months after I bought my car I was on these back roads in the middle of nowhere up-north. There was literally no traffic and I was going 8/10ths. But I crested a steep hill to find a lake right in front of me and the road turning sharply left. My tires were very unloaded because of the crest and at the time I didn't know evos did lift-throttle oversteer (like fwd). So things got hairy but I kept on top of it. If the road had dirt on it (common in those parts) I would've ended up in the lake, lol. I no longer push very hard on public roads though.

There was also the time when I spun out on a straight flat, dry section of highway....but that was more due to dumbass drivers cutting me off. And even dumber drivers not slowing down and letting me turn the eff around!

I know what you mean, I had a guy try to change lanes while i was next to him. He didnt see me at all and ended up running me into the curb and cracked my wheel.. needless to say i was pissed and the guy wouldnt stop!.. Finding a single evo 9 wheel is near impossible... js

This is exactly what happened to me! But it was a stupid lady in an astro van, I was gonna pass her and she just switched lanes without even looking and I almost hit the side curb. I had to smash the brakes so she wouldnt hit me or hit the side curb and when I got to her all f$&%# mad she gave me the finger.

Haven't had many so far. Only two I can really think of is a few weeks ago I was coming home from work. Car in front of my slammed slammed on his brakes. I had to slam on mine to stop. While I had no trouble stoping, the very large chevy conversion van behind me certainly did. He came to a tire screeching halt mere inches from my rear bumper.

Second time, only a few days later, was on the highway, there was a wreck around a tight blind bend that's hard to see around, and traffic was stopped. Quite a few of us had to come to a very fast stop as the line of stopped cars quickly caught up around the bend, saw 4 or 5 cars spread out behind me had to dash off to the side of the road to stop, as did a few infront.
