I think they must drive hondas and are trying to legitimize the fact that they got stomped by a racecar and not a streetcar.

lol

Yeah, some people are idiots. I once had a guy at a gas station tell me that the "Japanese Version" of my car has a lot more power, and that I added the brakes/wheels/turbo/wing after I bought it. I didnt feel like wasting my breath trying to explain it to him so I just left.

haha tell me about it. I went to a gas station and the attendant came up to me (he was sum racer with a riced out civic) and he straight up told me that my car was a rip off, and that mitsu should of made the car a lot cheaper so everybody could buy it. Oh yea he told me that his friends 525i bmw would smoke me. Shoot i thought 28000.00 was a deal for a evo. sh*t 30000.00 is a deal. haha

Ok... if anyone wants to know.. there are 2 trims of the Lancer Evolution in Japan. One is the "RS" and the other is the "GSR". The RS is the stripped-down enthusiast model like the one that is being released here (except theirs has a wing on the back, more HP, and AYC and ACD). The RS trim was originally released for rally drivers competing in the "N" class, where little to no modification of cars is allowed. So the RS trim is basically a street legal rally-spec version (they used to come with 15 inch gravel tires for rally as an option). So if you wanted to compare the "standard USDM Lancer Evolution" to something, you would probably compare it to the "GSR" trim, which is the street version of the Lancer Evolution (except that the USDM version has no front LSD, no AYC, no ACD, less HP, 5speed instead of 6speed, and more).

Also, some people think that the USDM version of the Lancer Evolution VIII has only 5HP less than the JDM Lancer Evolution VIII (USDM is listed at 271HP, JDM at 276HP). This isn't true. Stock JDM Lancer Evolution VIII's run 12.7-12.5's in the 1/4 mile (if you don't believe me, watch a Best Motoring Video), while the USDM version runs low (if you are lucky) to mid 13's in the 1/4 mile. So, the JDM version actually makes somewhere north of 300HP in reality. The only reason they list the Horsepower at 276 is because of the "gentleman's agreement" in Japan.

The USDM WRX STi, rated at 300HP, actually makes less power than the JDM WRX STi, which is rated at 276HP. Go figure....

We really get shafted...
