Need advise on buying Evo IX RS

Hey guys,

Im on the verge of purchasing an Evo 9 RS. I need advice and any input will be greatly appreciated.

I will be using the car as a dd. I know it lacks sound deadening but is it bearable on a daily basis? Long distance (Say 4-5 hours on the highway). And if I were to get a head unit and speakers for it, do I need to get the covers for the speaker (i believe theyre called pods lol) ? Any other things that I should take note of?

Thanks in advance.

It has no Cruise Control so that may be more important to you.
If it has stock exhaust then it will be very quiet. Do you know what was done to the car in regard to intake and exhaust?

Thanks for your quick reply.

No cruise control is def not a problem for me . Only mod is k&n air filter. Exhaust and everything else is still stock.

I will be driving to Boston-NY (4 Hours) probably 4-5 times yearly. So I really wanna know how loud it really is compared to an SE or MR when the car is cruising on the highway.

The gearing will probably be your biggest concern. The 5 speed cruises at a higher RPM (mostly) than the 6 speed.

Evos are loud. They certainly aren't GT cars. They're homologation vehicles. If you're worried about noise buy a Tesla.

No pre-X evo has cruise control so that's not really an argument against the RS.

I have an evo 9 rs. Coming from a gsr you are losing your power features such as electric windows etc. But overall its a great car I dd mine as well with 600whp. It is loud comparable to most stock cars but you get used to it. If it's really a concern you can go to your local Lowe's and buy some stuff that goes on just like dyno mat. Basically that's what it is but a loooooot cheaper. Throw it down on the body of the car and reinstall carpet and it will be as quirt as a gsr.

You may consider an alarm system with auto locks for the front two doors

Wow, thank you guys so much for your replies.

Moving on from this to an Evo,

Im less worried about loud engine. I was told by the owner that the road noise is definitely more noticeable on some roads compared to evos with sound deadening.

Im not really looking to mod besides alarm system, stereo, jdm tails and rear bumper. Not forgetting ECU flash, KWs and some volk wheels

+1 for the advise on gearing

and the use of "homologation" in describing evos.

I dd my 8rs and I had a gsr prior to this and u really can't tell the difference. Yes it's a little louder and yes no power accessories but hey it's lighter and somewhere better on gas.

I found that my tire selection made the most difference in term of road noise. Stock rubber is nice new but will be very noisy worn down.
Find some local Evos and ask for a ride or two.

Thanks for your reply. Exactly, I love the idea of it being lighter and definitely the manual windows
