was driving home the other day and my car was idling at 3000. out of the blue. so I assumed it was my idle stabilizer acting up.. so I unplugged it and it idles fine now but ive drove it about 3 hours since I unplugged it..... and it just did it again.. but when I gave it alittle gas it went right back down.... help? idk whats going on... or am I just over reacting? hha
idle air control valve. its what control your idle. its located under your throttle body. its held on by 3 screws.

This is the idle valve myself and a few are using.
first time it happened, at a light after a highway run idle stayed at 2,500 to 3,000. turn key off and start car, idle was back to normal. they tend to go bad and mitsubishi charges like $350 for the stupid thing.
Yea the air idle control valve and also try clearning your MAF sensor with the CRC MAS air flow cleaner. That tends to get dirty after awhile, now if those two methods haven't worked try looking for vaccum leaks or even the TPS.
got the iac valve cleaned and cleaned my MAF sensor.. thanks for the help guys. ill let you know in a day or two how its running and if i have the same problem looks like yall will have to give me more things to check
