Great deal! I also paid $600 for mine about 3 years ago. Solid bang-for-the-buck, easy-install mod. I used these in my EVO X and WRX. Both were trouble-free.

At $449, you can buy a new AccessPort for the price of a used one

If you look and do research there are some places where there are selling the cobb ap for around $450. Just keep a look out.

You should check out their forums they recently released some new maps for the newer year X's. Not sure how great the map support is for '12/'13 EVOs. I think the price drop is a reflection of that and the low cost in comparison to getting an e-tune or the like.

That would make a lot of sense on the price drop, I was looking at cobbtuning.com and they dropped theirs from $500 to $450 in just a couple of weeks worth of time. And to misterevo8, thanks for the intel on Mellon tuning, they seem pretty legit and their sponsor evo 8 names the silver bullet is sick! Thanks again

It's always better to get a tune specifically for your car. IMO, an open source tune through a good shop, like Mellon, is far better then a AP with an off the shelf map.

Off the shelf tunes can't compare to a street or dyno tune. I like the idea of the COBB AccessPort, but recently witness a failed unit on a buddie's 04 STi, where the company has told him that his only option is to pay full price for a replacement (since the unit is defective and can't unmarry, or something a bit ridiculous like that)...

Therefore, I prefer the opensource myself.

Also whenever you get a tune you have to retune it whenever there are any changes or mods down to where with the accessports you can just download the mods you did and change out maps so its a lot easier not to mention way cheaper to where the average tune in this area is about $400, I don't have that kind of money to fork up every time a change has been done lol
