Switching from a BMW M3

Greetings, im new here, Im 38 and I live in Ecuador, South America. I used to have a 1993 E36 M3 Eurospec (286 Hp).

Ive always liked the EVO and im thinking about getting one.
I know little about this cars, and ive been reading some articles, so far ive got the same questions that have been posted over and over again by several members (MR vs GSR, best color available, reliability, ride quality, mild tuning, etc) and the info in this forum has proven to be very helpful to me.

Coming from a normally aspirated RWD car, with no electronic aids (only ABS), and very fun to drive at the track as well as a DD (I had my M3 for 10 years, and loved every single day of driving her) im looking forward to try the X, I hope itll be as good as I think it will be.

Well, I have lots of questions but I guess most of them have been already answered here, so ill be doing a lot of reading...

Best regards.

Definitely get one, the car is an absolute blast. Have only had mine for about 7 months and love it. Invested little to make the 350whp i have, and its a GSR.

For color id say white is definitely the most common and best looking, but i went down a different path and chose silver. All depends on what you want. And whatever evo you end up buying, id say buy the SSS package with it. Having the sub and spoiler is a big plus.

Hey, thanks for your fast reply, could you please clarify whats included on the SSS package ?
Im still undecided about colors, ive been always a fan of blue... here are two pics of what I used to have... but the Evo X looks great on almost all colors

So im still thinking.
Another question, whats the package for the sun roof ? and the extra sound deadening ?

The SSS (sight, sound and spoiler) package. It includes...
  • 710-watt Rockford Fosgate Punch® premium sound system with 9 speakers (including 10-inch subwoofer), custom trunk mounted sub-enclosure, Digital Signal Processor (DSP), and speed-compensated volume & equalization
  • SiriusXM™ satellite radio with 3-month pre-paid subscription
  • 6-CD/MP3 in-dash changer
  • Projector-type HID headlamps with manual leveling
  • FAST-Key electronic keyless entry and starting system
Also includes the larger spoiler on the X as well.

Yea all colors look great on the X, but white looks the best in my opinion.

Also the Sunroof and Leather package has the Sunroof and Sound dampening as well as the leather seats.

You'll love the Evo. While I don't have a X (I have an Evo 8 MR), they are amazing cars. My boyfriend actually has an e46 M3, and while his car is a VERY fun car to drive, nothing compares to mine. If you happen to keep your M, you will notice the difference in both cars. They both have their reasons for being great cars, but like I said. Nothing beats the Evo in my eyes.

Welcome to the forums man, you'll definitely love the evo as mentioned up above. Definitely stay away from the 6 speed transmissions, I have an Evo 8 GSR and the 5 speed is amazing in these vehicles. Lots of people have the X's so there's definitely tons of reading you shall be doing. Also there's two boost solenoids to when hooking up a boost controller/boost gauge be mindful on the install if you're doing it yourself. GL

Lol you'll always hear mixed opinions about something and yes my Evo is my DD which is something I'm trying to change. It does well in traffic at times, I have a Comp Stg 5 clutch so it can be a rough stop and go. Yet I still have low miles since the base I'm stationed at isn't to far away from my house.

No problem. I actually enjoy his car but there is nothing like driving his car for awhile and then getting in mine and hitting boost lmao - they are two completely different platforms, and believe it or not, his car is a lot "easier" to drive so to say.

As far as the 6 speeds, I honestly don't know. I have a 6 speed and mine is just fine. I drive the car the way it's meant to be driven and I haven't had any problems yet. But then again, I have super low miles on my car so I can't say it's been driven hard for tons of miles. Maybe I'll get lucky and I won't have issues.
