Mitsubishi evo mr questions!!!!!

Hey guys, new member on the forum here just looking for some feedback from daily driving mitsubishi evolution mr owners, basically guys right now i'm driving a 09 bmw 335ix coupe that is becoming a pain to live with. The car constantly is in for maintenance because of bmw's less than stellar build quality in my opinion.. I am very interested in getting into an evo mr in white asap!! I would just like to know how to guys like daily driving the car, and any other concerns that might come with ownership of the car thanks again!

Which MR?

Evo 8/9 or X.

I'm thinking X, but I might be mistaken. My buddy just got an X MR in white. He loves it.

Most who have a MR love it. The only issue is if the transmission goes bad, it can be pretty expensive to fix or replace. Also you can only obtain so much hp without having to do clutch upgrades.

I almost got a MR. I would have no problems rockin one

Anything EVO X daily driving is gonna be alot of fun but there HORRIBLE on gas mileage. And comfort level evo 8 Mr's Suck donkey *****. Evo 9 MR's the seats are ten times better and with the bilstien shocks theres a BIG difference in ride quality. But honestly man you cant compare the two cars. the BMW IS the nicer car by all means. However the Evo's are going to be alot more fun and cheaper maintence. Plus Evos never loose value lol. But like the other dude said Im assuming your talking about EVO X MR, Ive driven one, its fun, rather have a 335I with a downpipe and a chip.

Yeah I was looking at a 2011 possibly 2012 evo x mr in wicked white, the bmw gets so boring and the awd system sucks... plus I need a 4 door car and am not looking to shell out $1000's to switch into a 4 door 335i or an m3 sedan, I've owned many bmw's in a short time and in my experience they drive nice, but theres no fun factor, also I heard the evo kills it during the winter time

Accoutrements in an Evo are not up to par with a BMW.

Maintenance wise you can work on it yourself vs a BMW.
Usually I just look up "How To's" and do it myself.

I daily drive my IX MR and its very fun. Especially on the highway.
I also have converted it to run on E85.

Good luck

My Evo IX MR has been my daily driver since day one. I'm a bit atypical though in that I used to have a very short commute and now I work from home, so I only have just under 50k miles on it.

The car is pretty awesome as far as a daily driver goes for me, and I have no major complaints. I wish it had a pass through from the trunk but that's only for skiing and I have a roof rack to handle those. It's fairly comfortable and drives very well. I think I only get around 20mpg but that's probably my bad driving habits. Having rear seats for passengers is nice.

The three issues I had with the car that were covered under warranty were:
1) Heat shield around downpipe rusted loose and rattled. Probably thanks to the huge amount of salt used in this area during the winter. Replaced the downpipe.
2) Front right strut rusted, leaked, and basically stopped functioning. Replaced the entire strut.
3) Rusting in the top of the rear passenger wheel arch. Started very early on in the life of the car but eventually grew to where the paint was bubbling in an area about an inch in diameter. After review they believe some undercoating wasn't completely applied in that section and since these travel on cargo ships from Japan the exposure probably started the rusting very early in the car's life.
