Newbie to lancers

I just bought a 2002 Lancer ES about two months ago that has a salvage title, but runs ok. I Have decided to reaplce most of the suspension parts from it with aftermarket parts for better handling. At the moment I am replacing sway bars, struts and shocks, replacing all the bushings, adding lowering springs, and adding strut towers brace for top and bottom of front. I am also waiting on front drill/ slotted rotors and a looking for a standard tranny to convert the car into a standard (no it is not hard just have to know what you are doing).

The car is suppose to be a daily driver since i have a 1992 Dodge Stealth R/T TT that is meant to be for tarck only, but I started wondering about other things I could do to the car and I thought about getting a turbo for the 4G94 engine which has lead me here.

The other problem is that I found out that the lancer sold in Mexico comes with a 4G63 NA, and now Im wondering about going that route.

Anyway, I already found a lot of info about the 4G94 turbo set up thanks to you guys and will post updates as i work on the car.

I guess the 1st question to ask yourself is how much money do you want to put into the lancer? If you are doing all the labor yourself you will save some money, however you can easily buy a 03 Evo 8 nowadays for under $15k to $16k. If you are going to have that much invested in the vehicle you may as well start out with a turbo platform and build from there.

Now if you are doing this for pure enjoyment and don't care then you have a ton of options. So I ask is this build suppose to be practical or impractical and in the end you are still going to have a 2002 Lancer.

There are plenty of guys who have build and turbo'd the engine that comes with it, definitely worth looking into if this is the route you wanna take.

Good luck!

Its just a daily, so I will be taking my time with it. We are working on 3 different other projects so the lancer will not be my priority but I do think that adding a turbo or at swapping for the 4g63 would be a fun project at some point. Although, I will admit the 4G94 turbo engine would be a fun lil project for the street.

Yeah, I did see the set posting of people who already went that route and I will be using them as a guide on what I can do with my car.

Right now I'm looking for what brand to get for lowering springs. since their appears to be good amount but not sure which one to trust.
