Performance Packages

Hi all,

I was wondering if any performance packages were actually worth the money you spend on them. I've seen a lot of posts regarding packages being too expensive based on parts alone not to mention labor, so I was wondering if any of you pro's would think any of these packages would be worth it seeing as the prices are for parts AND labor.

If you do your homework you'll be able to piece together a build for far less than any performance package and create something specific for your needs.

If you don't want to think about it and just want to "go fast" or whatever then just buy a package and be done with it.

Definitely do your homework. I have been reading and posting in this forum for over 16 months before I did 1 mod on my Evo. I also try and talk to local Evo owners and learn as much as I can. I like learning from others trial/errors and mistakes.

Personally, after owning my EVO for awhile, the first performance package that I put on it was the Stage II upgrade offered by COBB Tuning. It fit my needs and wants and was a great option. But, then again I have a '10 X MR Touring so all the hate I read from all the GSR owners made me timid about modding my car. So, take things with a grain of salt when it comes to recommendations from board users.

And you can go Cobb stage 2 without Cobb products as well (excluding the AP). Save a little money when you compare.

Does mixing and matching cause comparability issues? I dunno I guess I just like the idea of having professional picked parts/labor included. I would think their combination is based off working on evo's everyday and not just what sounds good on the internet >.>

It really depends on the parts, but many mix parts. I am on stage 2 but with a turbo XS turbo back, ets intake, ets FMIC, ets UICP. Would my car run better with all cobb products? Maybe, I'm not sure. But I know ets makes good quality products at a good price and I liked the sound of the exhaust I purchased as well as the price.

As I shopped around for different mods I came across a wide range of companies. I used feedback of other owners to choose the mods I bought.

I will be installing my fuel pump (DW65c), injectors (FIC1100), springs (Swift), and boost controller (3port) and then getting a dual protune.

All in all I will have spent about $4k including install and tunes. Im not sure if there are manufactures that make all these products. If so, I'm not sure if they would have been cheaper or not. Happy with the purchases though.
