Switching from a WRX to an Evo

Switching from a WRX to an Evo
I was wondering if there anyone else who switched from a Subaru WRX or Sti to an Evo? If so what were the pros and cons of both cars? I've owned both but just wanted to see if there was anyone else out there who could give me their take on their experience.

Depends what your looking for. Evo is an all around faster car and has alot more room for expansion without having to build the bottom end. And if you do build the bottom end of both cars you get more bang for your buck with the evo. With that said I'm not sure if you necessarily are going for speed. In my opinion the evo seats are nicer and the cars are alot more sleak looking and i honestly hate the sound of subarus and I also hate working on them. Horizontally opposed bullcrap makes everything 10 times harder to get to. Team evo you won't regret it

^x2. Ever sit in the back of an sti/wrx? Probably not because you're talking to us now and not stuck still trying to figure out how to get out. Yeah it's that bad. Ok so do this. Sit in a wrx/sti back seat. Then sit in a is250/350 backseat (you'll understand). THEN sit in the backseat of an Evo. Nuff sed.
P.S: I am in no way Evo biased. I love all cars and have owned 58 to date. I just like back seats to be functional if they're gonna have their own doors.

My advice to people who ask is that it really depends on what you want out of the car. If you are planning to mod it beyond Stage 1 near-stock mods the Evo is a better platform. It responds better to mods and will cost less to go fast. Regular maintenance is cheaper/easier because of the engine layout. For guys who want a newer car with Stage 1 mods, the GVB Subies are able to make decent power/low end torque with almost no changes besides a downpipe, exhaust and a tune. They have nicer interiors and decent amenities if that matters to you. For my money I'd take an Evo 9 any day though.

I like the STi transmission better, and I think the car sounds better. Overall feels like it has more "personality," if that makes any sense.
That said, I think the Evo is a better call. Better interior, better motor, better driving feel and I love the agility of the Evo's steering vs the STi.

just sold my Impreza, i love the Lancer way better. it stands out a little more because of its color, but the Lancer is far more superior. I love the way it drives, and honestly, i didnt like the exhaust note that every so desires. working on it is so much easier. Checking plugs, and doing compresion test is so much better. As stated above, the money to power ratio is better than that of a WRX.
1Will i get another Impreza? hell yeah! but after i buy another evo...both great cars, but the Lancer is better in my opnion.

I went from a 2011 STI. For the following reasons
I live in Northern VA one of the worse traffic areas in the country, so it wasn't a stretch to go from my 6 speed to a dual clutch setup. A lot more relaxing in a long commute home from work. I think even more STIs would sell if they offered the same transmission. Though I do miss the clutch a good part of the time.
The inside of the EVO is cheap but the STI wasn't a lot better so no issue.
I have an EVO shop 3 miles down the road.
The EVO seems to maneuver a lot crisper than the STI. The STI seemed heavy and lumbered a bit when driven through twisty turns.
My STI seemed to have greater low end torque, but the EVO builds consistently where it's needed.
Exclusivity. There aren't a lot of STIs in the USA. Waited 8 months to get mine shipped, but you see far less EVO's. I don't want to drive what other people drive. Since the EVO is a kick *** car I don't feel like a snob saying so.
Enjoy

I have both. 08 wrx hatch and 06 Evo MR. The Evo is waaaayy the hell more fun. My wife wants to trade the wrx for an Evo x...
But we just drove to myrtle beach (10 hours one way) and we picked the wrx. Softer ride, quieter inside, more forgiving fuel mileage.
Apple's to oranges a wrx vs Evo. They aren't meant to compared. The Evo kills in all performance aspects. If u had an sti going to Evo it's more compareable
and subarus sounds so stupid. Sounds like it has a miss. Terrible...
