New Member: Evo-less in VA...for now!

Hey y'all:

Name's Emily, Em to those that know me. Currently driving a 2008 Jeep Patriot that I keep thinking about Turbo'ing (and never will) but I'm working on / dreaming about an X. For now I'm here for the education and the car talk. Oh, and looking at beautiful cars of course

As my username suggests, I do share a garage with a Subaru. The H owns a 2008 STi that is currently in the shop to fix problems from the motor build , so before we can bring an Evo home we will need to build a wall to minimize the hostility between the cars

Welcome Emily. I can attest that being an owner of a Evo 8 and Evo X. The X is a much more refined vehicle, but my Evo 8 was a very raw race car. My wife likes the X better because it has more creature comforts. In my time of dealing with STI's I've had nothing but headaches, which really turned me off the vehicles. I'd say when you are ready to buy, look for a nice clean low mileage X and mod on!

Thanks! I prefer the Evo 9 appearance but, like your wife, love the creature comforts of the X. The added benefit of getting a used car with low mileage, and hopefully no existing mods, is nice as well.

Because of an old injury I have left hip issues where my left hip occasionally pops out I'm considering going with an MR and doing mild / moderate mods vs a GSR and needing to rely on both legs for a daily but being able to mod a lot heavier for performance.

My plans are for a totally sexy looking car, color consistency under the hood (charge piping, etc.) with mild performance mods to put it in the 375-400 range. H is more about performance vs. appearance and will be in the 475-500 range when he gets his car back. Good thing his commute is 3 miles.

I'm sure I'll put together a build list / photoshop of my plans at some point.

Awesome, when you get one make sure to get a build thread going and I will follow your journey. My wife drives our evo x most of the time and she loves it.
