New IX owner

Hi everybody,

Just picked up a Evo IX recently with 37,500 miles on it and a pretty good mod list already.
Perrin Exhaust/intake
STM lightweight battery
Manual boost controller
Buschur exhaust manifold heat shield.

The car is awesome and is pretty 180 out from my other car: 2000 Audi S4

A couple of questions I have:

Do I need a turbo timer or is driving mildly for the last 5 minutes of a trip ok? My audi has 201k on the stock turbos (if you are unaware this is considered a miracle in the B5 S4 world and potentially a sign of the second coming) from just mildly driving the car for the last couple of minutes.

What's the best way to mount a front license plate? I'm thinking of making a magnetic contraption of sorts that stealthily holds the plate on without causing any damage to the bumper. thoughts?

I'm not entirely sure if I have a short shifter installed. How much play is in the stock shifter?

Side notes so far:

Dat exhaust noise
Dat BOV noise
Dat Handling

Thug version of that maybe? Like, "Yo, dat *** is bananas."

An OP, no you don't need a turbo timer. Honestly from what I've seen (I think it was Buschur that posted on this). A turbo timer is useless. Warming up the car before hard driving (or if its cold driving at all) is very important, but cooling it down, not nearly as much.

With the magnetic plate, someone may get wise and steal it.

Haha sorry Guys "dat" is just a joking ghetto version of that. I guess it's a bigger joke in the B5 S4 crowd. Didn't mean to confuse people. I love the sound of the car and its handling.

Yeah maybe the magnetic plate isn't such a good idea now that I think about it.

My opinion is if you can get one on here for 50 bucks with plug and play harness why not it an easy install 30 min total. Good for warming up and cooling down dosent hurt

I'd probably recommend something like this so you don't put holes in the front bumper:

Use 3M double sided tape to stick the plate just below the headlight.

Hahaha Wait so Airide won't look good on the Evo!! Don't worry, my audi is at stock height with no plans for any changes. I appreciate that this group understands the fact that the suspension is optimized for each car at the stock height and without proper adjustment by professionals, lowering them will just wear out parts prematurely and ruin handling.

Not everybody understands it, but it looks like we just added one more to the group that does. Welcome, friend.
