Buying high mileage evo

Would any of you guys advise to buy a high mileage evo? Roughly ~180k-200k miles.

What should I look for? And what would you pay if everything checked out? Is it worth it?

*Edit*

Ok I guess I should have searched first. I just went through 4RETECH's threads so I kind of have an idea of what should be eventually replaced as they wear out.

I was wondering what should I offer? Its an 05 MR btw.

without pics its hard to say but kbb says 10.5k in good condition at 190k miles, if you could get pics it could make this a bit easier to give you a better number. i would try to get it under 10.5 if you cant i would walk

No way I'm buying a 200k evo, don't care how well it was cared for.

Now if you just want to work on a car that is one thing, but if you are worrying about reliability get something else.

Parts for this car are not cheap, and at that mileage you start doing some serious replacements.

At that mileage plenty of stuff is wore out that isn't taken into consideration.

Such as : Alternator, power steering pump, suspension bushings, the differentials and transfer case, etc.

Unless the seller can provide documentation of all the stuff he has done...then maybe.

FYI I just paid $12.7k for my 05 SSL with 100k. Granted it needs work to be mint, but the body is clean which is very important to me since I don't have a hookup in the auto body world at the moment.

If you can get it for a right price, I would deff consider. With that milage you're probably going to be doing a build anyways..

Thats a good deal, but over on the west coast most evos here are overpriced. I'm not sure if people are actually buying them for the prices they list them for.

The pictures aren't very clear, I'll be checking the car out this weekend. I've only driven an 03 Evo that had about 125k miles on it. So Ill be comparing it off of that..

The car already had a rebuild at 160k miles. Anyone know how long rebuilds usually last for?

You need to seriously drive that car for about 30 mins minimum. Check for any squeeks and clunks. Pay close attention to how the body feels during turns, does the car feel sloppy or solid? do a few wheel locked turns also and listen and pay attention. If the car was rebuilt make sure theres paperwork for it and take it to your local evo shop and have them do a full rundown of the vehicle and ask for advice/opinions.

Yes, test this thing seriously if you are about to drop 10 grand.

You could be 5 grand in parts and labor before you know it.

But like the others said, if you are looking to do a build and work on this thing, it may be alright.

I wouldn't spend that kinda cash on a car with that high of miles. Just to many things that could go wrong. No disrespect .
