I'm just looking around to find out more about Evos and I heard this is the best place to do that. I'm from Jackson, MS and I recently enlisted in the Navy
. I want to make a well informed purchase after I finish RTC and possibly while I'm in training school so I'm going to be doing a lot of reading up since the only cars I've owned have all been less than stellar for driving (93 Toyota Tercel, 04 Mazda 6i and 96 Acura 2.5tl). I've always been a fan of the Evo styling and this will be my first chance to buy one within the next year. Any comments and tips are welcomed!

Welcome and enjoy Basic training. What is your rate? evos are fun but if you are young (18ish) it will be a very expensive car to own. especially on E1 pay. but, good luck and remember to address your RDC's as their rank.

Is it the maintenance or something because the listings I have seen all seem around the same price maybe a few thousand more for an MR in decent condition. I also figured that an Evo 9 MR would be less abused possibly? I was reading and saw that there is also an Evo 8 MR as well?

Theres a thread on high miledge Evo's somewhere, but you really need to go out and see the condition the higher miledge cars are in and maybe ask for a compression test if you are concerned, if they stand by their car they will do it for you. Theres lots of 100k plus mile cars on here still going strong, depending how they are looked after. Mine has about 60k on it and still feels like new
