I have State Farm and I pay $188 a month. I'm sure most guys here will think that's high, and it is, but considering my age I think that's not too bad. The only reason I was even able to get that rate is because my parents have multiple cars and properties so I could all the discounts they receive. If it wasn't for that, I would be able to have an X because most insurance companies wanted to charge me about $900 per month. When you get a car loan there are certain terms you have to meet. One of them is that you have to have full coverage with no more than a $500 deductible. Not all loans require this but you should ask so you know what you will be looking at every month

I can't say, it's still under investigation .I put 15k down and financed the rest but at a horrible interest rate because I was 22 and no credit. After that I did the stupid thing and spent 10k in mods which I should have put that towards payments but oh well. Figured out I couldn't afford a evo on part time salary so I moved full time and have been pinching pennies ever since

Cash on a great deal, I know a guy who works in the financing department at the owner of local dealership's second store 3 hours away and he hooked me up on it. I was really eyeing something like a R8, the new NSX or even a Lambo but those are not really practical at where I live plus I really don't want to have a second car and the Evo is a perfect DD.
I would say buying an Evo at 18 with no help from others is pretty ambitious but if you got the means then sure go for the experience, although my true advice would be wait a few years and get some other things in life squared away first like college, career job, etc. If you can afford an used '08 now I'm sure you'd be able to afford a better used '15 then

Getting help buying and maintaining the car from your family are definitely good things but just be prepared for the unexpected costs and I'm not talking about insurance, mods or routine maintenance like others before me, an example would be if one of your tires blown on the sidewall after a year, then you're looking at replacing all 4 and that'd probably set you back close to 4 digits.

Seems like you've pretty much decided on doing this already so good luck on raising the rest of the money, hope you get the experience you wanted out of this
