Evo 9 Questions
I have a Evo IX SE and I love it. Basically the SE is a MR with a 5 speed instead of the 6 speed. You have the nice recaro interior and the nice BBS wheels. Not the MR bilsteins though unfortunately
Dont rush it buying an evo is a mission unless you want to spend 20k on a bucket. Do your research is this going to be your new daily? Weekend car? whats your budget? If it effs up can anyone help you fix it.
most info here is correct with the addition of: the MR has an aluminum roof. i believe the SE does as well, but not the GSR. they all have power mirrors except, possibly, the RS. i'm not sure about that one.
HIDs are an option, but i forget which years and models. i have a IX MR, which comes standard with them.
i'll agree that the 5spd is good if you plan on making a drag car/freeway racer out of it (big power). i beat on my 6spd all the time, with 127k miles on it, and have no issues so far (300-425whp). when it breaks, i will buy another 6spd if i can't fix mine. i don't like the feel of the 5spd and i like my gear ratios.
the RS is awesome, if you plan to make it a track car. i don't think i'd want one as a daily. just my opinion, though (see my sig LOL).
the IX and VIII MR have ACD which is nice, compared to the open front diff of the VIII. that's good, also, if you plan to track the car.
MIVEC in the IX nets a bit more power and quite a bit of mid range. it's a nice feature to have.
when it comes down to it, all models are great cars and i'd gladly drive any of them.
