Evo Handbrake?? Disengage AWD... CatBack mesh Removal!??

2 Questions..

A: When pulling the handbrake on my evo in the dirt, i noticed the rear wheels lock up, the front keeps rolling, is this supposed to be how it works, i was under the impression that the AWD system caused all 4 wheels to stop if the rear wheels are being braked.. Does the Handbrake disengage the awd system and allow for rally slides??

B: My DSM friends tell me if i shove a metal bar up my exaust, i can get rid of the catylitc converter mesh stuff **** and free up some power.. Has anyone tried this and does it work?

Hi,

1. The handbrake locks the rear brakes only . That is important, as you never want to raise the rear wheels off the ground without chocks on the front if you are using jacks.

The AWD drive train is not disengaged and if you pull the handbrake on dry pavement under boost... get a box and a broom.

2. You really need to get your car up on ramps and look underneath and you answer your friend’s question. There is a lot of piping between the tip and the cat, including a muffler and a 90 degree elbow and then more pipe......

On the JDM 7 and 8, the center diff opens immediately when the handbrake is pulled so you don't wreck it.

i drive a metro which is front wheel drive and i pull the hand brake on drive pavement all the time, to do this in an awd car you need to either put it in neutral or put the clutch in right ?
Thanks.
