How much did he want and how many miles did the car have? And was it bone stock or what?

Still on the hunt. Missed out on that white IX on here and I'm absolutely bummed.

Saw this in LA and it caught my eye, does anyone know this car? I'm learning more about it, it's relatively stock with no major motor mods. Any thoughts or advice to ask about?

Looked at the listing. Wow, 29K miles (thats rare). Couple of minor issues: Alum roof noted. Only the MR & RS have alum roofs.

Those +12 wheels will have to go. No way to get those to fit correctly

Youre right. Just checked Wiki. But the one visual would be the stamped horns & of course the magnet test
Recently, Ive seen a lot of mis-information in the FS ads

I was under the impression that RS, MR, and SE models have aluminum roofs in addition to the hood and fenders that all models share. Definitely agree on the wheels, if this car works out I'll be looking for a clean set of SE BBS wheels.

Hurry, because the prices on those are getting stupid. Like "same price as RPFs" stupid.

Going to check out an 06 MR tomorrow, the car has 64k on it and is pretty much stock except for coilovers. It's Graphite Grey, the owner is asking 27k OBO which is certainly too high. I will inquire about the 60k service, but I do not believe the timing belt has been replaced yet.

I'll see how open the owner is to offers, any specific items to keep an eye out for while examining the car?

Basic used-car stuff and t-case whine is about it.

If the service hasn't been done yet, that gives you some bargaining leverage because it's an expensive job. Good luck!

I found the one you are looking at on Craigslist. It's clean and almost stock. Yes I agree you want to make sure that the 60k service has been completed. That costs around 1500 with OEM parts. Also on the test drive you want to make sure that the clutch is good and not slipping.

When you look into the engine bay check to see if the undertray is installed. That should be easy to spot because when you look down you should see a black plastic tray at the bottom. If you can see the ground looking down in the engine bay then it has been taken off.

Check the frame rails underneath the car to make sure they are in good condition as well. This Evo looks cleaner than most of the Evos I see for sale. Also, the owner doesn't know it's a higher trim. This is actually an Evo IX MR/SE as denoted by the red stitching on the seats.
