Wow, these things have been posted so many times hehe
From what ive read, they sort of work. I belive they trick your ecu into thinking its bringing in colder air, so it ups the timing and more fuel is burned for more power. But i think its only a very small gain, not 20 hp, and its just a resister you can buy at any local electronic store.
You can get a piggy back unit from RRM www.roadracemotorsports.com thats the only "chip" i know that actualy works.

Adding a race wing will give you more power than that will. Get a cai for a real 3-5 whp gain. Like static said, rrm's piggyback will give a descent gain. All that is, is a cheap resistor, 1hp at max.

yeah, seriously....i know it sounds good but dont buy it....
It tricks your car into thinking the air outside is colder or something to that effect...basically it just makes your car run like it does during the winter...which in my opinion is not faster at all.
Its basically a rip off and I think the dealers can even tell if youve put that resistor thing on so it could possible end up voiding your warranty.

I agree with Static, if your really into the idea of adding a chip to change your fuel to air mixture to get more gains go with the RRM piggy back.

There was a thread in this forum a while back where sombody got one of those "resistor" type chips on Ebay and ended up frying his ECU. Anyway there are lots of reliable systems or reflashes like Vishnu . http://www.vishnutuning.com/welcome.htm

Does Vishnu offer parts for the Lancer? Last time I checked, they only offered parts for the Evolution model. So far, only a couple of choices for us econobox drivers.

EBay is a great resource, but as we all know you have to be VERY skeptical with what you purchase on there, because the seller is just out to make a buck and doesn't care about your car too much. I know I am generalizing, and there are good sellers out there, but a few rotten apples will Always ruin the bunch.
