Finally jumping on board!
Finally jumping on board!
I just wanted to say HI to all the EVO owners out there. I've had my ride for a while now. I was the second owner in the Hampton Roads area of VA and I've had my Rally Red 03 for a little over a year now. I'm a 25 year old high school teacher and wrestling coach in VA Beach, as well as a budding author.
As the school year winds down, I'm finally finding some time to join the forums here. Currently the car is as thus:
*6100 miles
*Clutch went at 3500. I know I know...bad driver right. Try again. I've raced AWD dsms for quite some time now. The car was never lauched at that point and was used primarily in traffic, so lots of clutch depressions. I always fully depress the pedal, but the sweet spot on her was always a bit elusive. When the clutch came out it was burnt to a crisp. It actually disengaged and spun to a smoking end at the end of a 30 minute highway fifth gear commute. I coasted off the highway and OUCH! The dealer took care of me for the most part.
*I got the dealer to install a stainless steel clutch line as well. This has made the shifts a bit more crisp.
*Mitsu accessories include brake air guides, blue aluminum interior accessories, volt, boost, and temp guages, etc.
*I have since done a grounding kit and AEM intake.
*I just put on my new wheels with some new YOKOs....saving the stocks for the track later. I put on a nice gunmetal wheel with polished lip at the stock size.
*I've done some misc. exterior mods, but nothing tacky or ricey...stuff like replacing the stock antenna with one from MACH V. etc.
*UK speck EVOLUTION VIII badging.
ETC.
My plans are quite simple....I'm almost done saving for the following.
*Buschur Racing complete stage four setup but with a hi-flow cat converter (I've been a loyal fan of these guys for years...my 12second TSI was almost all their products).
*Exedy Twin Disc comlete kit (clutch, flywheel, new t.o. bearing, etc.)
*Buschur Flash for stage 4
*Racing harness
*New CD head unit, but with stock speakers for now...more concerned with performance.
Anyway.........sorry for the length....just wanted to do the intros. I know many of you from other forums like the BR one, or locally, but to those I don't: Hello, Hi, and all that mess!

I'm looking forward to that huge torque jump. I won't drag much, but I'll have to visit the strip from time to time with those parts...with a mid 11 second goal. I'll also be auto-xing and having some general steet fun.

Hey, all. I'm very new to this site and I'm in the market for an EVO. I fell in love the first time I saw one and ever since Ive been looking for one. I live near Albany, NY and there aren't that many around here so it's tough to find one. But I was just wondering what kind of insurance premiums people pay on an EVO because ive heard its expensive.
