Question Water spryayer for intercooler (poll)

I was just wondering if anybody actually uses their water sprayer for the intercooler? If you do, do you notice any difference? Has anyone ever tested one on a dyno?

On a hot day spraying the intercooler down with the manual IC spray before a dyno run picks up a few WHP

Yea I've noticed a small difference...not anything monumental or anything.

Mine comes on sometimes when I pull a steep grade at speed in temps of 100 degrees or so. It seems more like a saftey device than a real performance feature. I have used ice, dry ice and alcohol/water in various combinations just to play around. I haven't observed anything remarkable.

If the IC sprayer is in auto, will it turn on whenever the car is started? I think mine might be stuck on

Mine does that sometimes to, it just turns on for no reason when I start the car. I think it might just be a glitch, but I cant really tell.

I think it might be a glitch, or I spilled something in there and it's stuck down. If I fill it up, it seems to just leak out all over. hmmm

If you look on the side of the tank, there is a little hose line that runs down to the ground.

It keeps the water level to that point, like your bathtub.

Your Sprayer, if put on auto, it'll spray every 2 seconds as long as its on.

I like this because I know it doesn't work, but It psychologically calms me down (thinking that this will help the engine and the air overcalm Georgia humid hot hell hole weather)

I want to replace that with a fogger or Cryo CO2 system...

Anyone tried that yet?

I think it if on auto, it will spray every 2 seconds as needed...not if it is on.

I thought in auto it only sprayed when intake temps got high enough that the PCM decides it's necessary. I put mine to auto everytime I start the car, it's just a habbit.Sometimes if I have been on boost for a while at low speeds I'll reach down and hit it but, I haven't really noticed a difference.

I always have mine on auto and I only have to fill it every couple of months. So it is definately not constantly spraying.

I know there is a post somewhere on the board about the IC sprayer. I think he picked up 10whp from it.

The auto spray is linked to temperature. The complete parameters for spray frequency, duration and activation point are posted on this site somewhere. Also, auto week did a test on it last year sometime and determined that in auto mode, the spray rate was too low to be effective. My own experiments were inconclusive. I was trying to simulate what a CO2 system might do so I went as exteme I could.
