front plate

Is there anyone who had a plate on the front when you bought your car? If you take it off is there a big ugly hole in the bumper? Curious because I hate to advertise for a dealership and really don't want a front plate.

Well here is Cali. we have to have one on the front of our vehicles. I noticed though at different dealership here that some has the hole and some doesn't. Mine don't have a hole on the bumper. Mine came with brackets and no bottome hole that goes on the bumper.

That is ok...I saw some cars in the registry that look like they had taken them off and that is what I thought. I just didn't want to have an exposed hole there that would possibly chip paint. Thanks, man! Looks like it's comin' off after work.

and yes, it's required in VA, but I haven't had trouble with it in my windshield... Except one Sheriff I was stopped next to said "That don't do me no good up there." And I told him it was blocking my intercooler, and he said "well, have a good night..."

well, ****, the jackholes who put the plate on didn't use the grommet...so I guess I will get a plate for the front preferably one like the ralliart one in the boost solutions ad or one that just says Evolution VIII. Dammit I hate front plates!

mine came with a plate but it was not drilled in, just held on by the bolt in the corner of the intercooler screen and a bolt underneath which cannot be seen unless you are lying on the ground and looking at the underside of the front bumper. After taking the whole thing off it looks as if it was never there, very clean.

ya, mine had the gromett - i took the plate holder off anyway and just left the gromett in...i never notice it's even there.

did anyone else ruin their holder when they tried to take it off? maybe i was being impatient, but i twisted the brackets all to hell.

Bought mine in Illinois. The state requires a front plate, but the dealers around here don't put them on until you ask them to (Evo's only). I asked why and they told me it was because of people from out of state often come across the line to buy.

I _have_ been pulled over in chicago for having the plate in the window and gotten a $25 fix-it ticket.

I also twisted the brackets to hell. Ohio requires front plate as well but I have been without one for a while with no problems so far. Tomorrow I will be driving to Denver without the plate on. Let's see what happens, probably nothing.

My dealer didn't install the front holder, it was still in a sealed bag in the trunk when I bought mine. I haven't been stopped for it, and I doubt I will. Texas is cool like that
