Hm yeah that link isn't that useful then. IMO, 8 and 9 are identical, I would go by on what's the best deal you can find on what you're looking for (low/high miles, stock or built etc.) In the end it's just really up to you and what you plan to do with it.

But to answer your question I would suppose the 9 is a 'tad' bit better just because it's newer and some of the things they upgraded. Good luck

I went with a IX because it has a better turbo, MIVEC, and a nicer interior.

It really depends on your price range. The VIIIs seem to be a 5k cheaper in most cases. I think the IXs are better, not just because I have one, but because they are. The larger turbo and MIVEC makes a world of difference. Also the 05+ Evos have ACD which is awesome and help with traction, not to mention that the T-cases are a bit stronger. I'm still running the stock T-case in my car.

I will tell you that you should stay away from the MR. The 6-speeds tend to not hold up over 400+whp. I have the IX MR/SE which has the best performance and interior but the dumb 6-speed. So I put a 5-speed in my car.

What is your price range and we can help you find some decent cars for you. Make sure you look in the for sale section of the threads

8's are better drag cars cause of the no MIVEC
9's are better street cars because of the turbo and other little things.

the interiors are the same minus the fabric

basically if you plan on making over 600hp get an 8
if you have less than 17k to spend get an 8

if you dont fit into any of those categories get a 9

wtf are you talking about, op don't listen to this guy!!! IXs make more power than VIIIs. The whole VIIIs are better drag cars was an old school thing. There are IXs in the 8s. Most shops out there just have VIIIs because they have had them for 5+ years and when they purchased their drag cars they got VIIIs because the IXs didn't come out till 2006 and no shop was going to pay 40k for a shop car that they were just going to gut and build... Also the IXs are just now starting to come down in price. In the next year or two I expect all drag evos will be IXs.

I've had all three, VIII (3), IX (2), X(1) and I came back to a IX again. should be enough info. And VIIIs better for drag? C'mon! You can't beat the spool of mivec. At least on the stock frame turbos.
