since i have the 08 gts and its way better looking than any evo ive ever seen ide have to say the evo x will look way better.

the 08+ lancers and evos have evolved way past the old ones. quit being primatives and catch up with the rest or you will get ate by the new predatory street sharks.

the numbers arent going backward to evo -x wouldnt make something new called the evolution x that would be in any way less evolved than the years before. has there ever been an evo worst than the year before?

 

Sounds like you want the Evo XI. I hear it'll have anti-grav repulsors.

Honestly though, I'll probabaly get an X. I know it'll have quirks and some rough edges, but it'll be worth it. Besides, I just can't say no to a face like that!

I agree with you on the fact that the new lancers look way better then any prior year base lancer but your crazy to say that it looks better then an EVO VIII or IX. Not to start an argument but and EVO makes your car look like pu$$y. To each there own though.

 

Ummmm, beauty is in the eye of beholder. Anyway, I think you used wrong words, what you meant to say is that Evo VIII/IX looks more ricey where each part of the body looks as if it was taken from another car, Evo VIII/IX does look more rugged but that doesn't mean more aggressive, it just looks unrefined. The new Lancer has a much more modern and cleaner shape, nicer profile, more mature, pretty much better all-around looker.

So again, IMO Evo VIII/IX does look more rugged (but in my view that is not a compliment but then again I am not 18 anymore where ricey looks were more pleasing back then) but it definately doesn't look better than the new Lancer in GTS form, not even close. Aesthetic wise I wouldn't even think for a second of trading an Evo VIII/IX for the new Lancer, performance wise we will have to wait and see but if the new base WRX can put out 250HP out of a 2.0l motor somehow I have a feeling that Evo X will be in the 320-340HP league. Dan Simms at the Detroit auto show mentioned that Evo X will have a "much more powerful engine" than the outgoing version. By "much more powerful engine" I don't think he meant up by 10-20HPs. The base Lancer received a 25% power increase from the previous generation.

 

Sometimes I wonder if we're all looking at the same pictures. Granted the new Lancer de is pretty soft looking, but the GTS has shades of the X in it and is a pretty good looking car.

And "not to start an argument but" the VIII and IX look like they were derived from a VW beetle. The greenhouse is WAY too tall, and the profile of the hood and front fascia has a steady downward arc that just looks soft. Literally, it looks like they shaved the front end off one car (maybe a body-kitted TT) and welded it onto the front of the Lancer. The Lancer itself looks like they cut the greenhouse off a beetle, stretched it and tacked it back on. Then they couldn't get it to fit right in the back, so they welded on another 3-4 inches of metal above the taillights to match up with the rear window.

I won't argue that the Evo VIII and IX were great cars. They handled incredibly well for their price range and took to mods like a fish to water. But one thing they weren't, were good looking cars. The styling of the 8 and 9 was universally panned in reviews. And frankly, they were just misproportioned. The 7 wasn't as bad because it didn't have that soft rounded profile in the front, but the rest of the body was just as bad. Before the X was revealed, the 6 was the last properly proportioned Evo. I don't know what Mitsu was thinking when they designed the lancer that the 7 - 9 were based on, but it was just overly tall, as if they stretched the design vertically. The new Lancer is much better proportioned, and some of the design compromises made are covered well, especially in the Evo X.

Where the earlier Evos looked like coarse street brawlers, the Evo X looks like a refined assassin.

Evo X doesnt scream, "I'm Fast" like previous Evo's do.

 

Technically, I think the Evo X screams "I'm Fast" *MUCH* more than any previous Evo.

HOWEVER;

The Evo X doesn't scream "I'm Quick" like the previous Evos. There is a slight but distinct difference.

Unfortunatley, we're at the point where we are discussing opinions, which means we'll ultimately get nowhere.

 

Very true about the opinions. We should should wait until the X actually comes out and see how it looks and performs.

 

Evo IX Last of the old breed! Look at the IV's or the V's man they still look so close to the VIII and the IX. Comments about DSM going Mad... I agree! Long live the EVO!!!!

 

Evo X is a good looking car there is no doubt about that but I personally think the IX especially with the SE package is Gorgeous. I have owned 2 VIII's and finally got my GG IX SE before they sold out and am so happy I did. I think it looks and performs amazing.

 

Lets just wait for the X to come out.

It's all a matter of personal opinion, does the new Lancer look more upscale? I would say it does, at least compared to last generation. Is it actually more luxurious? It does have more electronic gadgetry mainly navigation system/cruise control but you can save some money and opt out for a stock radio and a manual ac, and the dashboard has a minimalistic/sporty feel to it without any cluttered buttons that do god knows what, you have 3 basic climate control knobs and a radio/navigation system, doesn't look too luxurious to me.

I don't understand how a cars performance can be judged by it's looks. All I know is that the new base Lancer is faster than last generation base Lancer, will Evo X follow the same path? Only time will tell but I am guessing stock for stock it will be faster, quicker than VIII/IX, otherwise it would be a great failure for Mitsu and instead of continuing with the Lancer Evo name they should have introduced it as a whole new car. I just don't see performance wise a stock Evo X to be slower than VIII/IX.

 

your crazy if you think the older evos look anywhere near as good as the new gts. older evos look like there a cheap car with a nice body kit. the gts looks like a nice expensive car and the front and angle makes it look like its got a v8 in it lol. i think its better looking than any other car under 75k out so far. i think it looks like a charger and a scion tc breed together and maybee some acura models in there.

for those that havent seen it in person the gts has the same size and shapes of a cobalt ss but every part of the gts looks faster and more luxury.
