Is the X better looking than the IX or VIII?
You know what BLITZKRIEG79, you obviously have no respect for the current Evo or any Evo before it for that matter calling it ricey. Your not an enthusiast of Evo's so why buy an Evo X? Up until the IX every Evo has had a high wing, aggressive fender flares and front end and you call that ricey. The X Its still hold the roots of an Evo even though it has a new motor that it shares with base lancers and some van/suv. How is that going to make you feel knowing that your motor is shared with other base vehicles?
Damn. This thread is extremely gratuitous. I thought you guys were talking on who thinks it looks better. The X or the previous models?
Everyone has got they own opinion. For EVO X lovers, good for you. For the previous generations, good for you.
I like the rugged look of the previous models. I welcome the new fresh look of EVO X. It is a good looking car. Just on it's own. I would not compare this car to and other EVO's simply because this is an ALL NEW design.
No one in this forum can knock the performance on this EVO X. And I mean, NO ONE can. No one here has an REAL CLUE except for what they read which was based on speculation and rumors that CAR MAGAZINES had and those guys didn't even test drive the production version. They all tested the Prototype and they weren't even allowed to give THAT ONE a real test run.
I came on to this forum for information on the current models of Lancers and Evolutions. And I am happy to say that I know own a GTS Lancer. This site is extremely helpful on how-to's, other people exp. and knowledge. I hope that this site here will be fruitful and productive.
In this thread, it started out decent and then from one subject to the next, it strayed off the thread theme.
For the guys who dig their models, that just great. For the guys who dig the EVO X, good for you.
The debate on the looks is well understandable. Beyond the looks, the rest is just garbage. Simply because the EVO X is not even out yet.
Let's utilize this thread for it's sole purpose.

I just don't like the way current Evos look, I know all the body parts look the way they do mostly because of aerodynamics but that doesn't make it look good. I don't think the exterior design is cohesive at all, it looks as if each body panel was taken away from some other car and all slapped together...
As far as the new 4B11 engine goes, I know it will be shared, I also know that the 4B11T found in Evo X won't be exactly the same as found in base Lancers (and not just because of the turbo), it will be built to withstand additional boost, the cam profile will have a different design, there will be parts of the engine that will see additional strenghtening. And guess what, 4G63, while designed by Mitsubishi, came out in 1984 in a Dodge Colt first (then there were various other Dodge vehicles and Hyundai Sonata), how is that for sharing? How do you feel that 4G63 was found in other non-Mitsu cars?

At least my Evo and Lancers of its generation look nothing alike where your Evo X and the base Lancer share many of the same features. Lancers are going to be a dime a dozen, we are going to start seeing them everywhere. Sorry you had a lemon for an Evo, I have hadd 3 Evo's now and no problems what so ever. Its your opnion that the current Evo looks rice which is a stupid opinion and apparently you dont know what ricey is because its not an Evo. We will see if your overweight beast can keep up with a IX, I mean I would expect it to but we will see. They are already predicting 0-60 times being slightly slower then the IX.
As far as Evo X sharing many parts with the new regular Lancer, from my understanding even the new base Lancer has an over 50% more rigid body than Evo IX, also, I think that Lancer in GTS form looks better than Evo VIII/IX so what is there not to like? As far as weight or 0-60 times are concerned, it's all speculation but I am confident enought to know that Mitsubishi will make Evo X the fastest yet, otherwise there would be no point for them to continue with the series.
They need a car that everyone is drooling over considering that they almost went bankrupt, they need to make noise around them and whats a better way than to introduce a genuinely attractive car with 320-340HP and a 0-60 time of 4.0-4.5 secs? People tend to forget that Evo X will have a new SAWC system, maybe it will further help with the traction of the car and transfer most of the power to the wheels better than the current AWD system in Evo IX. It's not always about power and weight (I am not saying it's not important but there are other electronic aids that enhance the cars performance/handling).

Someone should come up with a logo for the X.
Maybe something like the nose of the car breaking out of the pavement, Jaws-style, about to chomp down on a riced-out civic..
That could almost be done in a logo style..
Or what would be funny, a picture of an X driving along the *side* of a tunnel, with the driver waving down to the riced-out car. Maybe a slogan like "S-AWC, it's more than just a sticker."

Yo, Draco.
I re-checked that ETA on the manual transmission on the EVO X. That was a speculation. They are saying their are rumors of a manual transmission for the EVO X and would imagine it would come out after the debut of the DC-T model. Sport Compact Car cannot imagine an EVO w/o manual transmission. So the ETA on the EVO X is not a solid expectation.
so much for that
