So what do all the big tunners think of the X?
They need to do something about the rear end of the evo X, everthing else looks great, the rear end makes the car look cheap and less performance oriented. Basically what I am trying to say is, you get this great looking front end with a bunch of angles like a lambo, but then they design a rearend with a box shape that looks dull. And a rear end that does not match the rest of the car to well, im sure their will be a jdm rear bumber that will improve the look of the rear end. Just like their is a jdm rear bumber option for U.S. evo's, that makes the rear end look just right.

this will keeping happening as long as we have kids driving these things

and the overall crash worthiness of the car isn't that great. Lets hope that the EVO X's/lancer new safety features give it a highest ratings possible from all the agencies.

That statement doesn't make sense, especially since aftermarket parts are already rolling out for the 08 base model Lancers.
yea, base lancer. exactly. the base lancer is not the evo x which is what i thought we were talking about? the engine design isnt the same. its not a lancer engine boosted. the ralliart edition probably will be though.
o yea, my other gripe is they are going to have the evo x, and a lancer ralliart. 2 different engines boosted, one FWD and one AWD. with aluminum blocks... i feel like its 95-99 all over again.
and no, i honestly dont think there will be massive aftermarket support for 2 completly different engines, none of which anyone has any idea how anythings going to work. much less how much room you may or may not have. the entire car is different. tuners arent going to just have one main model to tune for. they are going to have no less then 4. the ecus are all different for all the models to. you have one for the 5 speeders, the autos, the cvts, the AWD, the ralliart, and the base model. thats 6 different combinations of parts and tunes that all need to be done on EACH model for the desired application.
this isnt like the evo having 2 models (the mr and rs, gsr) to tune for (and really its not even 2 as the only MAIN difference is an extra gear.
not to mention also the cost of replacing some of said parts. cvt isnt exactly cheap. nor is anything on the base lancer, i cant imagine the evo x.
its also not like you can just go anywhere and start swapping parts in and out, its a whole new "Global platform" with dodge, mitsu, and hyundai parts and engineering. if those 3 companies dont scream "not reliable" to everyone then some of you have issues....
and i am under no illusions as to the fact that i said mitsubishi's arent realiable above. the new outlander is pretty decent, the new eclipse is too. time will tell on the lancer. hell, we all own mitsus, we should all be weary, lol

the turbo is more efficent when is hot...
the STI intercooler is mounted on top of the engine.
so the geniuses put the cooling unit right top on the stowe...
Maybe that is something to do with it?But i thought, i sould not have to explain the cooling part.I didn't thought anyone think i'm talking about the turbo cooling....
Because the turbo is not aircooled anyway. So sorry about that.

Dumping the tried and true 4g63
Changing to aluminum block
Hopefully it will at least be a solid aluminum block with sleeves, otherwise without modification, the block will only hold about 350whp like hondas and subies.
Placing the turbo between the engine and firewall
Highly cluttered engine bay
From a 'tuner' standpoint, they are ruining a good thing.
