Article on new Evo X and STi from Road And Track...

I don't know if this has been posted yet but Road And Track magazine has a pretty nice summary of all the little info available on the new Evo X as well as some predictions, although some of them are a bit bogus like the correlation between estimated weight (3500 lbs), horsepower (300HP), and it's 0-60 time (4.5sec.) which would make it even faster than the current MR but I don't think those numbers add up as an increase of 14HP in HP wouldn't offset the over 200lbs gain in weight which wouldn't make the Evo X faster than current MR. But I am more than sure the new Evo X, stock for stock, will be faster than the current stock Evos.

Nice article with some new information.

Can't wait to see mitsu's new "SST" transmission in action.

The Evo X looks good but I'll wait a couple of years before I buy one............ that way all the electronic and mechanical issues should be gone

Nice. So they are slowly releasing more and more info about the X.
I'm still going to wait at least a full year after the X is released before I decide if it will replace my IX.
Although I highly doubt it. I might keep my IX and get the X as a DD....who knows.

Agreed.

BTW, that STI is a "photo illustration" and not official. Still, it looks worlds better than the new WRX.

That article is full of ****! First off, U can't even get a good launch off the line with the Evo X's new ***** *** "Peddle shifters" because there is no clutch. 2. How do u get a 12.5 in the 1/4 mile with the weight of the car being at 3500lbs and only 300bhp? 3. how do figure that the X's 0-60 will be 4.5 sec if the 9's already do that with less hp and weight? ****in dumb asses! Don't pay attention to any of the **** u just read on that article.

A standard 5-speed manual gearbox and a new 6-speed twin-clutch automatic with manual mode, codenamed SST, will be offered.

Woot Woot!!!

for the 27823892548953475576578556547th time the X wont be offered with JUST paddle shifters. you can get a traditional clutch. i agree with everything else you said though

What the hell? How do u know it doesnt have some sort of Launch control system? Plus it has more torque and it may catch up with the lightning fast shifts. I dont know about the times they posted but also who said there were no clutches?

Although the article is full of flaws, whether someone likes it or not, a true DSG tranny will offer better 0-60 acceleartion than a traditional manual transmission. And DSG not only has one clutch but it has two clutches.
