Why is there so much hate towards the EVO X?

Seriously what the f*ck gives Why does it seem like so many EVO owners on this website want the EVO X to fail? I mean I can't believe the negative feedback from you guys, I mean some of it is just absolutely ridiculous. I mean we are judging the EVO X on looks as if our cars (IXs and VIIIs) are some design masterpieces. Don't get me wrong I love my IX to death, but who the f*ck am I fooling. I know it isn't the prettiest thing to look at, but you know what, it is kick *** fun to drive and that is what I care the most about and I would hope we would give the EVO X the same chance. We don't even have all the facts about EVO X, or what I consider the most important facts (like how it performs) yet so many of you are so quick to already bash it. I know a lot of you love your IXs and VIIIs and it threatens you that a new EVO is around the corner and may be better (stock wise), but come on give the car a fighting chance because what is good for Mitsubishi is good for all of us. Also please stop with the new STI looks great BS, come on dude, you all know the new Subaru STI looks like absolute sh*t. Ok think of this way, imagine if the design for the new STI was actually the new EVO, I can muthaf*ckin' guarrantee all of you would have a freakin' heart attack, as would I. Seriously if that hatchback (actually its a wagon) crap was the new EVO I might have to change the first line in my sig, I'd probably change it back, but it would take me a while to accept that crap as the new EVO.

Atleast I am happy about one thing, all this hating from the EVO community isn't shared by the rest of the automotive world and that is exactly who Mitsubishi is trying to attract. I've actually seen this before, with many cars such as the C6 Vette and E90 3 series which suffered some hate from so called brand enthusiast, and you know what when those cars were released and the rest of the automotive world feel in love with the car, those haters shut the f*ck up and waited in line to buy.

Off Topic-
By the way Mitsubishi saw 30% increase in sales for the month of June, the sixth straight month of increase sales I believe . Subaru once again saw a decline in sales, fourth straight month of decrease sales .

The people weren't loved very much as children...hence all the hate.

I guess a lot of people are just fans of the 4G63T and believe it is the holy grail of mitsu engine...therefore if the new engine fails it will confirm their beliefs.

Only time will tell how the new engine responds to both driving and mods.

Exactly. It's all about the engine. THis is an engine that many Evo owners have worked on and become familiar with over the last 15+ years. People know what works with it, they know the limits of it, and how to make big power with it. This new engine brings along with it a whole new learning curve that people just don't want to deal with. They're comfortable with the 4g63 and it has been the heart of DSM's and Evos and all their accompanying milestones

Do you guys know what car Mitsubishi is targeting its X with? Clue: It's not the STI. Answer this and you'll understand more on why there is so much "hate," as you describe it. Here's another question that may help you guys understand more: What was the focus of the Evo? Or, what's the new focus of the X?

Well guess what? thats life?

Things change... Bridges Burn. Accept it and embrace it for what it is.

Give the 4b11T a chance and see what it can do.

Beats me how people can ***** at something that hasn't even gotten its chance to prove itself.

Can you show me where it says the X is no longer tryign to target the STi?

Show me some articles that says the X isn't the STi's Competition no more

Mind you, the new direction the X is going will do wonders for MMNA. It's a great thing for the company as a whole, but for us die hard Evo fans that love the raw nature of the VIIIs and IXs, it's a sad day. No, this X will make MMNA more successful. We, the majority on this forum, aren't making MMNA that much money - chump change compared to what the X will draw.

Yes, I'll find it for you here in a sec. While I do, please think about this. Mitsubishi is trying to please a much wider audience with its X. It's not gonna do this if it continues on with this "childish" battle with the STI. That's just it, guys, most people think the Evo and STI are boy racers, stuff for children. Mitsubishi understood that it needed to reach higher if it wanted to make the Evo successful, successful as the auto industry knows it - not the measely 5000 or so cars sold, but more like 30,000-plus cars every year, sold to a broad spectrum of buyers, not just to the 30-and-under crowd.

I like the X I just don't like the back end of the car. The front looks really aggressive and I really like it. I just wish mitsubishi would've stuck with the same engine for awhile longer. Who know's what lies ahead of us with this new evo. Also I really like how the new Sti looks like. It's going to look like a nice little hatch. It's also rumored that they may release a sedan version. I just hope Toyota wises up and makes a Celica GT4 to compete with the Evo and Sti.

The E46 M3. The old focus was all performance. The new focus is more comfort ... a fast ride, but also more porky.

I haven't been bashing the X, but you said it perfectly.

If this car had a 4g63, no paddle shifters, and was built towards the hardcore drivers it once catered to the purists would not have been so upset.

Trust me, the day an automatic Viper is released there will be a lot of upset fanboys.
