Sept. 07 Motor Trend (Evo X 0-60 numbers)
When Evo VII came in the US it was knocking on supercar territory, years have gone by, technology has improved, car makers did not sit still and those supercars that did 0-60 in 4.5 secs. 5 years ago, do it in less than 4 today, come 2008 Evo X will have supercar-like numbers again.

I'll just point out that I own a TEN (X) speed bicycle, which makes me infinitely superior to your IX speed. I mean, it's got an extra GEAR! Of course I'll be very sad when the bikes that "go to ELEVEN" come out :/
4 seconds is actually very feasible...
stock Evo ix mr with the stock launch control can get a 4.5 0-60 consistantly
if the evo x can launch as hard or a little harder, like 6k, and have the 320lbs of torque like ive heard, than 4 secs is very likely...
my IX MR with only 350whp and 6k 2-step could do 0-60 in under 4 seconds

And I would argue with you against light travel possibility in 10-15 years

But back to the topic, I really do think that MT's 0-60 mph estimate is a little optimistic. But if it's for real, then I will have an Evo X parked next to my IX in a few years after the first or second model year.
I found this on the motortrend website. Pretty sure it's a repost though.

i've never really been a fan until i watched that. the gaping bumper, the squared off rear, the hood vent, etc just didn't scream out to me. i know it was a lot of sales propaganda, but the first commentator definitely made the X sound worthy, and the nose, headlights, and wing give a defined edge to the side profile that the IX and VIII are definitely lacking.

I thought the X is over 200lbs heavier than the IX, and if thats the case it will need the extra tq just to get to where the IX is already.
In my book the IX will always be in front of the X, cant wait to line up with one

i just had a thought, the best bang for the buck is the ZO6 and if the paddle shifting is so much better how come they don't offer it.

4 or 4.5 it does not matter. I am getting one with SST. I am not a good driver with stick and don't want to change clutch so often. With SST I can drive fast all day long with 4.5 sec.
Thats what i was thinking when they showed the WW IX in the back ground it looks 20 years old compared to the X.
Can i steal this quote for my sig,

I would rather say it's Evo or STi but anyway, Chevy doesn't offer SST tranny because Chevy likes to use ancient technologies in their car tech. F1 and WRC use paddle shifters so that says something about the technology. So really, Chevy analogy doesn't fit in here because Chevy is not know as a pioneer or early adopter of cool new technologies. And I am pretty sure that stock for stock Evo X will be a vastly superior car to any previous Evos, it has to be, otherwise Mitsubishi will look bad and they might have as well killed of the Lancer Evo line and introduce it as something totally new just to not compromise itself in the auto world where everyone is waiting for the world beating Evo X. There is a lot of pressure on Mitsubishi on this car but I don't think they will mess it up that much.
