it was rumored that chevy might put a dsg in the 09 corvette, however I am happy that car manufacturers are starting to adopt these cool technologies

 

The 3500lb number was some magazine speculating, but everyone's taken it as fact. :P

Here are some facts:

1. The base lancer's body is roughly 50% more rigid than the Evo IX. This means Mitsubishi won't have to add weight to the car to strengthen it.

2. Mitsubishi has stated that they will be using a lot of Aluminum to keep weight down.

Between both of those facts we can be pretty sure that the weight difference between the 08 Lancer and Evo X will not be as much as it was for the older Lancer and the Evo IX. So Initial estimates that used the old weight difference to estimate the weight of the X are going to be off.

My money's still on 3350. But with a stripped down lancer that was shown in the leaked video (another fact; it had no radio, no cruise control) it's possible that the lightest X will weigh even less.

I knew that 3500lb number would stick in everyone's heads regardless of whether it's fact or fiction. Even if Mitsu stuns us and the X is lighter than the IX, people will STILL quote 3500lbs.
