new HP/torque info on X
You guys don't know too much about the Evo in different markets, do you? Those leaked specs are for the Singapore market. If you guys have been around Evos for a while, you'd know that GSR is a marketed term overseas and that RSs came standard as more stripped, i.e., cheaper seats, steel rims, smaller brakes. However, a wing was included, as was an options list in some markets. RSs here in the USDM are more like the regular and MR VIIIs and IXs, with their tarmac-sized rims/tires, brakes, Recaro seats, but no wing, and no options list. Probably the only similarities between the other market's standard RS and the USDM's RS was the lack of sound deadening material, both in the cabin and against the firewall, no stereo, no full liner in the trunk, lighter trunk lid, RS rear end cross bar, 5-speed gearbox (some markets even offer 6MT), no ABS, aluminum roof, manual windows, and the limited paint option of white (worldwide) - red is an additional RS color only offered here in the USDM - just learned that myself. I might be forgetting an item or two, but that's the gist of it. I believe some RSs in other markets didn't even have S-AYC, like our RS and Evos, period.
Here's a great web page that charts out the differences between the three JDM Evos ... http://www.japanvehicles.com/newcars.../Evo9/main.htm ... It's a whole 'nother animal overseas. Now for the confusing part: Some markets market some of their Evos as being an MR and RS both or MR and GSR both - different trim levels of MR. Case in point ... http://www.bhpauto.com/UserFiles/Ima...209MR%20RS.jpg ... a pic of a IX MR RS.
I've seen a few Best Motoring vids with different varieties of Evos, also ... http://youtube.com/watch?v=CjB7qnbuBQ4 ... These are some VIIIs racing against some STi's and an NSX. There are three VIIIs there - an MR GSR, MR RS 6MT, and MR RS 5MT.
Overseas, the term "MR," literally means "Mitsubishi Racing." Not the shallow version of what we have here, the most plush, optioned-out model of Evo you can get - even though the SSL would give it a run for its money.
My point is take those leaked Singapore specs/terms as being specs/terms for the Singapore market. Yes, there are some specs/terms that will carry over to our market, but those have yet to be disclosed. I would expect to see an "MR," as we know it, right from the beginning.
Lastly, all your guys's rants against pre-X Evo owners "hating" on the X are getting old. Not all of us VIII and IX USDM Evo owners dislike the X. Most of us are Evo lovers, no matter the generation. Like it or not, the Evo has a long and prized heritage that's focused around rally racing. The X will be no different. I mean, compare those Singapore X specs with the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Evo IX specs there in that website. In particular, compare the similiarites between the RSs - most revealing, the small rims, the smallest of the bunch in either generation - 15 and 16 inchers respectively. Hmm, I wonder why that is. Maybe it's for P-WRC (Production World Rally Championship) racing. I'd bet my life on it that that Singapore spec'd X RS is a car that's meant to be built upon and raced in P-WRC (Group N) and the WRC (Group A). Oh, yeah, let's not forget about the Sportback. I believe that'll be the preferred body for racing.
I, for one, used to be the guy who was holding out for a X. That was three years ago. I couldn't wait three to four years to finally get an Evo. I decided to support MMNA (Mitsubishi Motors North America) in their hardship and feed my passionate want for an Evo and bought what I believe to be the perfect Evo for me, the IX RS. It took me a year-and-a-half of research along with a big bonus to finally get the car that I so longed for. I have not one regret. I plan on keeping this car forever. One day, I'll even get a X.
Please, guys, grow up and learn about Evos ... Go drive a wide variety of Evos if you haven't already. Hell, support anything Evo. Your lack of knowledge is really showing in this thread.

Those brake disc sizes are definitely incorrect ... or are sized using a different kind of measuring system that incorporates inches - 'cause I just looked at the JDM IX comparison chart and they had the same large sizes for the brake discs.

The Evo FQ-Series. Damn the Europeans having the access to a FQ-Tuned Evo X
EDIT: Then again... isn't there a tuner/dealership here that sold tuned Evo IX's brand new? I think in Florida or Cali or something?

Japanese spec sheets sometimes use an unusual brake size measuring system. The number quoted is the smallest size wheel that will fit over the brake discs. So 17" means a 17" wheel is required to clear the brakes.
Makes sense. Still unusual, though. I had a hunch that that was the case. I mean, what else could it be? Thanks for confirming, man ... Those "18 inch" brakes would mean larger brakes, then. More good news, if so.

If that's true, then those rotors are nearly 16" across! Damn! Put some sticky tires under the X and your eyeballs will be kissing the windshield.
