I may have new weekend plans Sorry for diverging off topic. The amount of air an Evo can get is loosely related to WRC though, right.

From the Mitsubishi press site it said they had a net profit for FY2006 of 8.7B yen, which translates to about 75M USD. That's not a ton of money, so I could see where Mitsubishi wouldn't be too thrilled about hemmoraging money into a WRC program.

Looking on Fortune, Honda had a net FY2006 profit of 5B USD, just to give you some comparison.

Sure, it can get that much air, the problem is what happens after you land.

Rally cars have seam-welded shells that are plated around the suspension turrets for extra strength, and the cage ties into the suspension uprights for even more strength. They also run a higher ride height for stages that have big jumps, and they have really expensive dampers to handle the abuse and higher spring rates to keep from bottoming out. Finally, the bottom of a rally car is covered in protection from the front sump guard to the rear tank guard.

So while an Evo rally car may look pretty stock, there's a lot of stuff "under the hood" that gives those cars the ability to withstand the abuse of jumping the car.

I think the Return On Investment isn't that great that's why Mitsubishi withdrew. Rally audience has been declining like F1 that's why other manufactures like Citroen and Peugeot pulled out.

Well Mitsubishi can also going the GT 300 series like Subaru.

The true Evo ended at Evo VI. Evos VII, VIII, and IX are heavy boats compared to the VI.

True, i guess the company bosses telling the rally team that the withdrawal will be permanent doesn't mean anything. it must all be false simply because those same bosses have not made a public statment...

don't get me wrong. i certainly hope you're right!
