BUT

On the flip side though, how about a 2.8 liter V4 or a bigger turbo + a V6 for the XI henceforth? I mean, if ya serious about not rallying anymore... then no need to continually be strict about those restrictions with "WRC" as an excuse

No such thing. Most 4 cylinder motors are of the "In-Line" variety and a V configuration would be needlessly complicated with 2 heads and 2 sets of cams and added material and weight and just pointless.

Subaru however has a FLAT-4, where the pistons and rods are sideways and pump side to side. This lowers the center of gravity and makes a manial job of changing teh spark plugs impossible.

The IX weighs 40kg or 88 lbs more than the VI. I don't think 88 lbs relegates the IX to boat status.

i'm not arguing with anyone. just posting up some info that i came across. my sincerest apologies...
my question to you is why even read and post on the Evo X forums? most of the information that is discussed on these forums are speculation and information derived from magazine articles until released http://www.mitsucars.com/media/evoin...no_contact.pdf

Maybe WRC just needs more left turns to become popular with the masses..

I don't know which takes more skill...F1 or Rally props to those who can do it!

My vote goes to rallies, F1 is by no means any easy but they do drive on rather wide nicely paved roads. Rally, on the other hand, not only do they have to deal with crappy narrow twisty roads (or no roads at all a la Dakar Rally) but then there is the bad weather and always some element of surprise such as a wild fan or a deer on the road, it requires more reflexes. I consider the Dakar Rally the grand daddy of it all (although it is not a popular race in the US). And we all know who dominates Dakar

And as far as Mitsu withdrawing from rallies permanently, it's still unconfirmed, but if they do withdraw it's obviously because of financial reasons. Car companies, afterall, are in this business for the money.

so that leaves Subaru, Citroen, and Ford?

I was hoping Mitsubishi would join the "WRC hatch craze" with a evo X hatch (or whatever the concept was called)

also suzuki is gonna put in a factory effort if im not mistaken. and if you think suzuki sux, consider who runs suzuki's motorsports division: monster tajima who recently broke the pikes peak overall record.

assuming this is true, it is a big loss for motorsport. the rivalry between subura v mitsubishi has been the inertia for the performance cars we so admire.
