if the STi had come out a little bit earlier i probably would have waited for it...i still love my evo though dont get me wrong!

 

And that is not based on anything i mentioned. I am sure for a daily drive it is a fine, reliable motor. But as soon as you go to touch it, it sucks. I just spent all day trying to get the intake manifold on one and run PCV lines so we could run a 20g. It is an absolute PITA. 40lbs of **** in a 2lb bag as my good friend would say.

Yes but what I think your seeing is a factory tester and most of them run a cage on track just for safety reasons. They may have been testing a set of 6 piston brakes (already avail. on the current STi in Japan). The stance is low because the car is making a left turn (look at the front tire) causing the car to load up and roll to the right. I'm thinking if you were to look at the car from the other side you'd see about 6" of fender gap.

But the honest truth is it isn't nice. I don't give a flying a** how hatches do in WRC, in the consumer market, especially the United States they almost always do poorly with few execptions and these exceptions don't cost $30,000 plus. Please you bandwagon jumpiing haters, the 08 STI is just horrible. I am a fan boy of Mitsubishi and even I admit they f*cked up a little with the X, but still doesn't make the STI anything special. Seriously if anybody is FTW, it is called the BMW 135i. Man and to think mitsubishi had a great opportunity to really put some distance between them and subaru sti and I think mitsu dropped the ball, as did subaru. Sorry guys the STI is f*cken ugly, I've seen pics of the two cars next to each other and it's not even close which looks better and looks like it cost $30,000+. The STI looks like a $22-25,000 car.

 

TO me the evo x looks nice and I feel it is one of those cars that in person will look better. The car is supoedley not as raw as it was. Is it dumed down to that of the current sti whch is not tons or is is less direct than the current sti? The evo gained 66 lbs not a big trade for better cornering. The next sti suposedley will lose weight 50lbs but will the car be the same or will it be more direct? All in all I like the evox look more but you gotta drive both to see what suits you better both are really good cars for the $$$ if you want a fun car. They both deserve a drive from you they are to differne aproaches to the same goal. I owned a 2003 wrx I bought that january.. I drove a 05 evo and wish I waited I did like it more and liked it more that a sti I drove but both cars were very nice. This time aroung the evo is all new chassis and it will get better and faster with r@d. the sti uses the same engine with more power suposedlwy and may impove on feel etc but is a hatchback which some love some hate. I am holding resevation untill both come out. Sothat I can pick what suits me best. In my opinion I can respect any person that buys wither car because they enjoy a good car and they enjoy driving we live in a good car performance era and should be grateful of what can be bought . heck even bmw the new 135i might be something to look at it is already modable to 400hp and 400lbs torque. I womder what the new evo and sti can do? and it goes on questions so just wait and drive than and that is the best car the one that fits you best.

 

I agree. I think this looks much better than the X. If Evo's and STI's were starting out with these models and never existed before, I think I'd be in the market for the Subie.

 

WTF are you on drugs or something??? If the new STI was the new EVO X with EVO features I'd have a freakin' heart attack. Styling wise it isn't even close, wow a lot of you must be sniffing some white powder there. As far as performance, I don't know, not sure if anything official has came out for the STI, but as far as looks it is not even close. Seriously has hate clouded peoples mind. I'd rather the EVO X look like a knock off of a Audi and TSX, then a focus. Seriously the STI is got to be one of the least attractive hatches I've seen and it is probably the most expensive and will not sale well at all. Honestly expect a sedan version pretty soon, because sales will be extremely slow for the STI. Don't give me this sh*t about rally, who the f*ck cares, nobody in the USA watches rally racing and none of us who own EVOs or Stupidarus even take our cars off road. Man you guys are in need of a dosage of f*cken reality. I can't wait for the weekend, so I can turn on NBC, or CBS, or ABC, or FOX, or ESPN, or TNT, or ESPN 2, or ESPN 3, or Foxsports TV and watch some world rally action like the WRC Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada =). Wait a minute it isn't on any of those channels now is it? Wow it isn't even on speed channel this weekend, and if it was I'd take the under on a .5 cable television rating. So please do not bring up rally racing and selling cars in the USA. Rally racing in the USA has lower importance than professional ping pong championships and spelling competitions.
