Some people will pay the 10k mark up just cuz they can. ADD and too much money.

I hope no one here pays way over msrp to get a X, please do us a favor and don't put that extra money into the hands of the stealerships if they are price gouging.

ya, +1, just wait a month or 2. i will wait till 09 and see if there are any quirks in the new X, once they are fixed i may get a X.

As for the markups, there are still dealers out there that are selling new evo 9s for msrp. I paid pretty close to 35k for my 9 mr. I tried to shop around, but no luck. The X markup should die out in a couple of months

It's def. not 4000 a month because that turns out to be 48000 evos sold a year, which is garbage.
yep. you're right. seemed kinda weird when i was typing it. autoblog had incorrectly posted that 4000 a month figure but the official mitsu site has 4000 units for fiscal year 2007.

But FWIW the sales target for the IX was 1500 (FY2006??? not clear on that but it's from the evo IX press release on 8/06)

either way it's gonna be DOUBLE the evos sold.

mark up is where the dealer really makes the profit. So if they can sell it with mark up they will.
By the way ,the Evo is not made for usa at all...That is why we got always the dummie version of the evo's. You never thought about that?
Every where else they selling them at least 40% more.

I think a lot of your are dreaming about discounts.

If this car comes in late Jan/Feb, there's no way you're going to get a $3,000 discount in the summer. This car will be hot for the entire year 2008.

Current Mitsu cars don't have huge profit margins. You can look at the current invoice to MSRP cost, and there's not a whole lot to work with.

Dummie version of the evo. What is that? Are you saying an evo with out all the tech toys. Like an rs with no abs to save a couple bucks.

^^^ no.
check it out the previus versions price here vs the other markets./japan-europa australia asia etc/
so to keep the price down for the usa they gave us a less evo then what they got, Even the interior is different sometimes.
Now with the X, we get everything like everywhere else, in the first time. So the price will go up too. And STIll will be a lot cheaper here compare to europa or asia.
So i dont know, why is so shocking when the price go up.

In the past 3 years, i think they just gave some preview for the usa about the Evo's, in " Lets see how they like it" style or intrudoction style.
So they gave us low price , guys will buy it. Since no real history here about this car.
But now it made a big bang , so lets see how they like the full version with higher price. I wouldn't be surprice .if the XI would be around $50k range or higher. If this X will be a good hit on the market.

When the evo first came here in 03, the local dealership in concord sold the first car for over 40k. My friend bought the 2nd evo for 35k. I bought my a few months later for 30.5k out the door. Its all about waitign a few months. Be PATIENT.

i could never imagine myself coughing up 40-50k for an evo, especially since that car will sell for half that in a year.

markups are whack, I know someone that paid 68K above MSRP when the new M6 came out. Their family owned a hospital or something though and made like 140K+ a day so go figure.

yeah there were a couple of guys that my dad works with that paid 80-90k for the svt mustang when it first came out, that makes no sense to me.

I just posted this in another thread...
I bought my Evo VIII 2 weeks after it came out for $130 over invoice. Don't let the dealership hype you. Just be ready to walk out if you can't make a good deal. Also, if they give you a good price, they may screw you on a trade-in if you have one. Best case is just selling your old car private party.
