what IS clear is that it is a proper sports tranny in manual mode. QUICK shifts, FULL manual control. this ain't the crappy VW DSG that auto upshifts for you. nope, mitsu was very clear that it'd be better, and it is (from viewing the video).

Thanks for chiming in with that. I did see that BM video but it's been so long since it was taken down. Glad to have some confirmation.

Right, but that still doesn't confirm if it auto downshifts or not.

I would hazard a guess that in "full manual" auto downshifts might happen in normal mode but probably not in sport or super-sport.

i would hazard a guess that it may only auto downshift (to 1st) at a dead stop cuz what's the point of manual mode if it downshifts for you? they wouldn't do that. it'd just ruin the whole tranny. but even if they did, it just needs a software update to change that.

i think anyone who buys a first year SST MR is crazy.

there will almost certainly be issues...especially in the 500-600whp range.

I'd buy an MR SST but I would wait a couple of years before I modded it and use my warranty if anything does go wrong

I've said this before about the SST ... my biggest worry if I were to get an MR/SST is modding the car. If SST is anything like the Audi/VW DSG, then the shift logic will be closely tied to the ECU. This means that if you mod your engine to make more power, then the ECU will start seeing different load cells, which may then throw off the entire pre-programmed shift patterns/logic. It will be interesting to see what happens to the SST with a modded engine...
