Here are some physical differences between the JDM Evo 8 MR GSR vs regular 8 GSR. The USDM may be different:

1) Different tail pipe
2) MR only available in medium purplish gray mica, red solid, white solid, cool silver metallic. MR RS only available in white solid.
3) Revised headlamps, tail lamps design
4) Sides of CF spoiler painted in black irregardless of body color
5) Larger oil cooler (visible from the front)
6) Yellow Bilstein struts
7) Interior roof handles are spring-loaded fold-up type
8) MR badging on boot lid, near gear selection lever
9) Interior trim in CF-style plastic
10) Aluminum roof. No sunroof option on MR.
11) Lightened trunk lid
12) Different seat material and stitching
13) Steering wheel in matt black finish
14) Optional parts: BBS wheels, vortex generator

Cool
Nice 1st post on EVOM
Looks like MR will be here pretty soon
This looks like a US spec MR, not a japanese model cause it's LHD or the ones from europe which are also LHD but the pics posted have a US back bumper
So from the pics it already has all the main stuff, like shocks, rims, acd, roof, on a US spec car
Should be ready by fall from all the reports we've been hearing

I didn't bother to look at the diffs, might do it today. Its not uncommon in Ann Arbor to see these prototypes running around. Almost every car manufacturer has a testing facility here since the EPA testing is done in Ann Arbor. I took one of the first pictures of the FED Elise and the Nissan 350Z track edition. Of course it helps alot that Car and Driver and Automobile Magazine are also located in Ann Arbor. As far as the the car in the pictures, i believe that it is the US version of the EVO MR. Its very rare that Japanese cars, or German for that matter, come to the US market looking exactly like they do in their respective domestic markets.

Wow! That's incredible. I'm glad there are real pics of one here in the US. Please try to get more pictures. It can't hurt to have (a lot) more! Great work.

hmmm "Manufacturer Plate"

A closer look at the edge of the roof in the back would show those fins infamous on the EVO MR. Although I think this is just an EVO VIII with some of the MR goodies. I would like to see an interior shot, e.g. seats, and climate control. Otherwise its good to see the billy's, wheels and the ACD button.

MR engine details that really make it unique such as

-The well-proven 2-liter in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC intercooler-turbocharged 4G63 engine has undergone detail improvements. The power unit retains Lancer Evolution's trademark flat torque band that kicks in from low engine speeds but now generates gutsier torque in the mid- to high-rev band.*

-The turbocharger uses a larger turbine nozzle with matching cam profile to deliver higher output at mid- to high engine speeds.*

-The turbocharger waste gate now uses two solenoids. This optimizes boost pressure control to give more stable torque in the low to mid-range and helps the powerplant to generate class-topping torque of 40.8kg-m (400N-m) at 3,500 rpm.*

-Durability is improved through shape optimization and reinforcement of the cooling water channels, uprating from a 3-ply to 5-ply head gasket and the use of magnetic ion-coated piston rings.

-Engine response is improved with the use of lighter silent shafts.
Cooling performance is improved with the use of a larger oil cooler that features two extra rows

Looks test mule toned down visually as to not attract attention.........or we are not getting the lamps and specific colors (which i doubt). Although........I'd love to have a BBY MR. =)
